New run of 48 Weasels, Hawthornes, DJ's, and IT's!

Missed the 5 min window on the hawthorns, but like always, I'm plenty happy with the ones I can get!

Well ya win some, ya lose some. I was full of excitement yesterday when the tube arrived. Was quickly brought to a screeching halt. I've never seen a white banana before. Oh well. The growing pains of GEC collecting. The fit and finish and walk and talk are exceptional. The blade sharpness is great. Not gonna lie I am a little disappointed with the dye job, but that was yesterday and I'm moving on. :)

You just have some of the inside of the peel showing, that's all.

Nice looking knives everyone!

Thank you! That is a really good way to look at it. I didn't think of that :) I'm already coming around because it is such a great functioning knife. I'll be keeping it and adding it to my growing collection.

Ramrodmb Ramrodmb - Awesome bunch of 48s. I love your Rotten Banana
Fodderwing Fodderwing - Ditto on the banana. That is a beauty.
Shock_ Shock_ - I'm in the same boat as you, I'm afraid. I think I posted a couple pages back that there should be some really cool variation in this run of Rottens. There certainly is that. Mine with the pale yellow, white bone showing, and splotchy oil spots is a little busy and messy for my taste. That said, it is unique, and I'll probably come to appreciate for that. Also, apart from the dye job, its mechanically perfect. A really nice knife.

Speaking of which, I love the African Blackwood SFO. It's all class with the houndstooth shield and satin blades.

The 48 is a great pattern and I'm trying to overlook the African black wood but you guys aren't helping. Very classy looking knife.

There are so many great variations on this run! I don't recall seeing so many winning handle materials on one run since the first run of beerscouts. GEC has really outdone itself.

One of these days I'll have to get a GEC in some sort of oiled/polished bone. Every traditional I have in bone has jigged handles. I'm sure the smooth bone is pleasing to touch and rub like worry stone (sorry, couldn't think of way to say that without the unintentional double entendre). I think I'd prefer a white bone, but that rotten banana is certainly intriguing.

Definitely try smooth bone - its also got a nice weight to it compared to other smooth finishes like acrylic.

For those with white patches, I can't confirm it will work, but a yellow RIT dye bath might help strengthen the yellow.

Fodderwing. Actually looks like you got the one that made it onto the cover...

Hey Pokerface I do believe you may be right! Good eye you got there! My knife's a centerfold....
With regard to F&F, how is the half stop flush on yours. I noticed John said his was good. This nanner of mine stands about a 16th proud in the half stop position on both blades. Everything else is perfect.

Nice amount of variation there Milt, any pics of the other side?

Mine landed today as well.
Quite different from one side to the other, and more veins in the bone than I have seen on most. And one peculiar blueish/white/yellowish spot on the left side of the shield extending midway between the shield and bolster.

Please pardon the quality of the pics, they were taken indoors and with my phone.

I did Not know what to expect, but I did Not expect this.
I actually like it, it is the only one I have seen like it.20170505_190530.jpg 20170505_190745.jpg
