New Strider Pivot

I don't understand what's preventing you from taking the knife apart. Come on, the PT sells for $300 and is the only knife we've seen with this "new pivot" design.

Huh? The warranty now states you cant take any Strider knife apart anymore and will void the warranty if you do.

No, it doesn't.

If your folding knife has been modified we won't fix it so don't send it in

modified= if any tools were used on your knife to change its appearance Your warranty is void
Change the blade grind= void
Polish the screws, blade or titanium=void
Modify the handle=void
File your lock bar=void
Drill any holes in your knife=void
burn up your knife in a fire= VOID
If you strip a screw we will repllace it for a charge
If you break the tip or chip the blade we will fix it no charge
If you take the knife apart and ruin the lock up thier might be a charge
***charges are detirmined on how long it takes us to fix it****
WE WILL NOT SEND OUT OR SELL ANY PARTS

Only if you take it apart and screw it up.

They should edit their prices :p. Especially after the way they edited their warranty so it doesnt cover EVERYTHING like it should with the prices they charge.

CRK charges $400 for an Umnumzaan and $450+ for inlaid / embellished Sebenzas. Should they have a no-hold-barred we'll replace it for you whenever warranty? I don't think so.

I think that Strider has an exceptional "you break it, we'll fix it" warranty that happens to not cover people being stupid when taking apart or modifying the knives.

If this was taken WORD FOR WORD, you CAN take apart your Strider. Basically, only if you mess it up will there be a charge.

Yep, that's what it says. ;)

Just don't mess it up. :D

On another note I have never had to send one in for a simple adjustment and I have never taken them apart or adjusted the pivots. ;)

If they need adjusting I send them in, no problem there.

Yes, because a "tactical folder" made for harsh environs should need 'spa treatment'.:thumbdn:

At nearly the price of an ar-15 the pivot should be a flat head screw the accommodates an e-tool.

Sure until something happens to it then it becomes Strider's knife again now doesn't it. ;)

Nope, still your knife, though with what I've heard of their turn around times, it might as well be their knife. ;)

What under 3 weeks is alot of time? That was total time including mailing back and forth when I had to get one fixed. ;)

That's better than most IMO.

If you pay money for knives with pivots that require tools you don't have, that's your issue not theirs.

I don't, the issue I have is with 'rugged take on anything knives' being treated like some ultra pansy knife, if Strider has a problem with morons, let his warranty state that, There is NO 'tactical advantage' to a knifes pivot requiring a special tool, one might even say that it's the opposite of tactical...

They are like that because they don't need any tweaking. ;)

The design is that good.

I've got to go to work, while I don't respect Strider, I respect you.

What this boils down to for me, maybe Strider wants to move into gentle-mens knives with a tactical twist, they should inform the masses before they do, perhaps we're just supposed to catch on?:rolleyes:

They are a lot tougher than you think, it takes a ton of abuse to even begin to hurt one.

If you break or damage one then you really did something, I know because I have been there. :D

No, it shouldn't. Show me an AR-15 for $300. Please.

How is it being like an "ultra pansy knife" again? They do have a problem with morons, and their warranty does state that.

Ever thought that maybe the pivot design (including the tools needed to adjust it) has another advantage?

If they really didn't want people messing with it they would rivet it.

i had an smf that broke without me ever using it. the stop pin fell out. they replaced/repaired it free (except shipping) and i had it back in my hands in exactly two weeks.

of the 3 sng's ive owned, all needed pivot adjustment at some point. i always liked the fact that i could maintain them with only a hex key. a proprietary break down tool is disappointing.

only strider folder ive owned that was "perfect" was an anniversary ar from tadgear. smooth and sharp out of the box, but just too large to carry.
