JackBoots,

That sounds an awful lot like a question I asked you. Why don't you answer my question first or take back your words about Strider Knives and Chris Reeve Knives?

Hello Mick,

Thank you for posting on the thread.

Do you know if any other knives besides Strider were tested ?

If so, can u name them and post the data of the testing.

If not, how does a knife company get a single source deal with the Marine Corps ?

Jackboots:

Please explain to all of us why this is such a huge thorn in your side.

Why do you care? What are you going to do about it if you don't get the answer you want?

I really wish you'd make up your mind Jackboots. One post, there was no testing of other knives. Next post, you're asking, and back and forth we go. really shoudl decide on one position or the other.

I own neither, and would own both if I could afford them, but that means nothing. Neither CRK or Strider need me to speak on their behalf, but WTF!?

You start bandying about terms like "sweetheart deal" and you sure as donuts better have something to back it up, other than innuendo. Does the military, and every other branch of government, over pay for stuff? Probably. Does it rise to the level of waste, fraud, and corruption? Maybe, sure, I don't know. Are you alleging that Strider's sale of knives to a particular unit rises to that level? I sincerely doubt that it does, and I would recommend that allegations to the contrary be supported by evidence, and that doesnt include "documentation" purchased at a gas station. Single source contracts are not unusual, and procurement regs vary across the board. Not everything rates the same level of competition as a fighter plane.

If the original poster had a point, it seems to change with every rebuttal. I dont know the Strider guys from aardvarks and will never need to pry open a taliban cave rock door with one of their knives, but I'm inclined to save my grickles and get one just because they have the most bizarre detractors. Oh, and I'd like it with extra glue.

I have taken a lot of cold medicine, so if I have misinterpreted something I apologize, even if it is the Nyquil talkin'

If I remember correctly, Harsey was approached about designing the "Green Beret" knife. He then recomended CRK as the one best suited to build the knife. There was no "100 knives" tested.

^^^^Abosoluetly right!...They went through dozens of "DESIGNS" for the knife until they felt comfortable with the one u see nowas the Green beret knife. But it was Harsey and CRK all along.

So far, you're on the mark. Our friend is stirring up the hive until something good comes on cable and he can turn the computer off.

Well I guess I must be a rip off artist as well cause MCSOCOM DET1 chose my "Gunner Grips" for their handguns.

Jack, why are you so jealous of succesfull folks like Bill Harsey and the Strider guys?

Imagine you are trying to start up a small highspeed military unit with lots of money and little time. Are you going to host the Olympic Games for knife contests, have the accountants record and spec out everything? Nope, I would go to someone who knew this business and ask him who makes the best stuff, can he be trusted to deliver on time and offer good support.

That's it, 15 minutes of my time and I can go do more important things.

Hello fellows:

I am surprised at the lack of knowledge on the SOCOM procurement rules. Recently, SOCOM was given an increased monetary signing authority. This allowed them to avoid the longer process of going through normal channels to make a procurement.

This being the case SOCOM can make a sole source procuremtnt, within the new rules.

Unfortunately, manufacturers get Sweet-Heart deals now and can claim their knife as "The Official Green Beret Knife" or "The Official Marine Corps SOCOM Folder Knife", which allows dramtically increased pricing through hype.

I think 'Mick Strider' the One-Post-Wonder has shown his true colours in his post. He makes one post and it is a flamer! Not very professional.

My only reason for starting this thread was to find the truth! The truth is clear, whether u accept it or not.

Cordially,

JackBoots :)

OUR special forces guys owe you NO explaination- PERIOD
We as Americans owe you NOTHING- PERIOD
This forum owes you NOTHING-period

There have been explanations of funds being available to the spec op's for the use of aquireing what they want. They are doing no wrong unless the congress changes that.

Actually the pricing of the CRK and strider knives are not inflated due to a military association. The Green Beret actually sells for less than a similar sized project one or two...So much for dramatically increasing price .... I don't even own a strider, but As far as Mick being a one post wonder he has almost ten times your post levels. You have taken every cheap shot at CRK that you seem to be able to think of- consistantly in your posts - is that to continue with strider? You have a very strong record of throwing stones and should be banned from these forums

BTW jackboots ,have you stopped beating your wife

that is an example of the junk YOU seem to throw out...
Are you a sad and lonely old man who thinks that you need to be mean and spiteful just to get someone to talk to you? I assure you that that style of post is not needed to get people to talk to you. I truly hope you have some happiness somewhere in your life. I hope that somewhere in your life you have something that is "grossly overpriced" that is quality and brings you happiness- if you don't, I really feel sorry for you... you owe it to yourself to believe that you deserve some nice stuff- not just ok ,cheap and functional.

Gawd, how did I manage to miss this thread for so long???

Yet another reason why I am embarrassed to be Canadian sometimes. JackBoots, you know nothing of which you speak.

PS- Swensen - BLOW ME.

JackBoots,

Please provide verifiable proof and citations to back up your accusations or remove them.

This is a joke;
That is why we act as if it is.

Lets ALL line up and justify our world to a single idiot.

You live in a happy jolly world where everything is painted and nice.
Stay there. Because out here in the real world, fair is a word that some simpering loser made up. Things are never fair. Fair is for faggots and people on welfare.

You want to know why we got the contract with SOCOM?

Its because we are bigger, faster, stronger and smarter than you are.

We have paid our dues with our blood and the lives of our friends. Because of this, the people in charge of the money know us and trust us.

Or….
Maybe they REALLY liked the knife.

The fact that it burns your soul makes it a hundred times more satisfying.

Now go brush up on your French and find some of your own business to attend to. But before you go...repeat after me....
