New Zombie TV Show ( The Walking Dead )

The helicopters came and picked up Dixon. Don't you know? I mean, there can be no other explanation. Door chained, so the walkers didn't get through. Hand laying on the roof, so apparently he did take his hand off. Do you think he'd actually have the smarts to keep himself from bleeding to death? I dunno, maybe so. But that still doesn't explain why he's gone. If he'd tried to go over the edge, they most likely would have run across his grease spot on the street. Although I guess he could have gone over the other side and splattered. But the helicopters make the most sense to me.

Another thing that took me by surprise was the scene down by the quarry between Rick's wife and his deputy. That, in my mind, put to rest their bumping uglies while he was in the hospital. But it makes you wonder, if you're like me, about the deputy himself. Was he innocent, too? I mean, when they were discussing what to tell Merle's brother, I kept thinking, "Just tell him he's dead, because if he isn't already, he will soon." Did the deputy tell the wife Rick was dead to save her the worry and trouble of wondering if he'd been zombiefied? Or escaped? Easier on everyone to think he'd just died in the hospital before or after it got overrun. He was obviously surprised to see Rick, for whatever reason. And in spite of the banging and bumping, he certainly seemed sincere in trying to stop Rick from returning to Atlanta. Seems like he might have just taken the easy way out of worrying about going back to the hospital after Rick, and got caught. Not going back after his sheriff being no small sin in and of itself, but more of a cowardly sin than a malicious attempt to take over his family, so to speak. So his honor is overridden by his cowardice. Or perhaps truly pragmatism.

Or maybe I'm just thinking too much.....

Also, am I the only one that wouldn't mind having Dixon's brother covering my back, provided he could calm down a little? I mean, in some ways, he seems the most pragmatic in dealing with the Z's.

being a minority, i don't know if i'd trust dixon or his brother to cover my back if zombies came looking for some dark meat :p

however, hot headed-ness aside, he does seem to know how to dispose of the zombies quite efficiently.

shane's true intent will come to light in the next few episodes i assume. good to keep us guessing by throwing that little extra tidbit of him not telling lori the truth in there.

Had not considered that, not being a minority myself, but you have a very good point. And I'm not too sure how much I'd trust him to cover my back if "we" truly got in trouble. But for engaging from a decent tactical advantage, he would be a good asset, I believe. Or he might just be a killer, and may decide that you or I would make good distractionary bait.

Glad to hear there will be a second season. It almost seems like the only thing that makes it on TV anymore is realty TV....although a reality TV zombie Apocalypse may present some production challenges it would be fun to watch....lol
A cross between "Shawn of the Dead" and "The Colony".

Yeah..I watched only the first 3 eps. of the 2nd Colony. It was just way to much built in drama & acting with that one. I did watch the last one to see how it ended, and all these ppl were yakin about "how much I grew as a person" *surivor line when kicked off* I was close to a puke, but as they went down the river to their new home... GAAAAAHHHH A bunch of crazys that were like Zombies!!!! I LMAO... Gawd that was cool. edgy
I'm likin this show. Lets see who figured out
what happened to Mr. Cuffs???:D

Well so much for the choppers pulling out "Mr. Cuffs" from the rooftop. This guy is one piece of work! He strapped it off made his way down and out of the building then, MAYBE, stole the truck?!?! Where's this guy gonna show up next?!?!?!?! They're campsite got pretty slaughtered by the walkers at the end, I never saw that coming at all!!!
*11 million viewers for the last episode, that's HUGE!!!

anyone know what kind of knife daryl dixon is carrying? i can never get a good enough look to tell.

Also, can't wait for the last episode!

I was pausing it in the scene where he threw the hand at the kid to see if I recognized that handle...I woulden't know a Busse if it hit me in the head though, thanks Sethrotull for IDing it.

If this series stays with the comic...someone in the group got bit in that attack and is still alive..;)

Teh attack at the end of the last episode was exciting. The guy who beat his wife deserved to get eaten first. Didn't Jim get bit? They better watch out.

Yep, I saw that too. I was wondering why no one was asking him about it on the show, I thought someone saw it. Guess not.

So far Daryl Dixon is probably my favorite character...and he's not even a character from the original comic. He's probably the best actor of the whole lot also...I hope they don't kill him off.

I don't think they'll kill DD off. They are working pretty hard developing his character. It seemed like he might be getting his **** together after they found the Vatos(?) taking care of the old people who couldn't get out. And it looked like he was none too happy on Merle taking the truck.

And yeah, I think Jim got bit, or at least nicked. He's gonna be a problem.

Just curious...the world has come to an end and there are millions of Zombies roaming around. So nobody thought maybe would should post a couple guards during the big fish fry....maybe not let people go off on their own. At least the guys in the old folks home have some concept of security. One other quick point.....with all the millions of guns in this country why are they so hard to find? Its not like the Zombies are stockpiling them? Think of all the military units overun. There should be weapons enough for all and ammo to spare. All someone needs is a good .22 with a large magazine. Just one shot to the mellon and there you go....dang now I gotta actually work.

posting a guard or two during the fish fry could have definitely proven to be beneficial to like, 7 of the people who got treated like sushi and eaten raw.

the handless dixon could have rustled up the zombies for revenge of sorts. although technically he'd be sic-ing them onto his brother as well. that remains an unknown.

it does seem like jim get bitten, and you see a hint of what happens for the preview to the next episode.

in terms of weaponry, i can imagine during the mass panic people stockpiled and/or hoarded firearms for themselves pretty quickly. say a family hoards 4k of ammo and maybe 10 long guns. one person gets bitten, and before you know it, the whole family is infected and roaming around slack-jawed in their home. would you really want to check every home for weapons that others have collected during a mass panic or would you be hightailing it out of the city where the infestation of zombies gets worse?

purely hypothetical, but i think in the case of any apocalyptic event, guns and food would get jumped on first. and in a case where people die and come back as zombies, one would be rather hesitant to check house to house for extra ammo until they were safely away from any highly populated areas. even then, i'd be pretty damn rattled for the time being.

EDIT-

i'm glad the show didn't go the typical "vato" thug route with armed gang members. shed a little light about how common decency can get turned upside down, even from the most upstanding citizens under times of civil unrest. or in this case, zombie induced unrest.

Ah, hardly worth arguing over but heres a bit more insight:

The reality is that the opening 10 minutes are similar, waking in the hospital, but other than that there's almost no similarity and they follow completely different storylines. Well, as different as zombie movie storylines can really be.;)

if you want to go further, there are even older stories about end of the world scenarios and "walkers" and a guy waking in a hospital to a dead world. very old.

course, we're talking the original Triffid story, but there you go :)
