New Zombie TV Show ( The Walking Dead )

been watching these on fastpasstv...

notes so far: telling someone with a glock their safety is on, is just messing with them, imho. esp if they don't know their gun well, they might actually check ;)

oh, and RAVENS or at least giant carrion crows in Atlanta area? since when? geez!

the handcuff thing? if someone did that to ME, it wouldn't take me but 5 seconds to get over being pissed off about it, after they people retreated, and trying to get out of it. that rebar vertical looked fit to be kicked off... otherwise, the links on those cuffs did not free rotate, so i'd have tried for those pliers, hacksaw, or other tool, and started twisting them up good for leverage. that "Merl" had what appeared to be a good full day of sitting there getting mild sunburn (looked like he'd been left a week) and being crazy.

some of the survival situational awareness of these people... man, i'd have to assume anyone with a bugout bag was in a hole somewhere, and they'd emerge 6 months down the road ;)

how come the camp doesn't already have like 100,000 round of rifle ammo? perhaps over the coming months, it'll occur to them to move to higher ground as well as a city-base (a secured building for instance) instead of roughing it, and clean the city out of geeks. course, it might behoove them to make a walled off area.

and for supplies - man, i'd be a busy beaver, humping all over, making food and supply caches, just in case. get me some hummers and fuel depots, and freaking body armor, esp some good gloves, boots, and shin guards (the crawlers always go for the ankles and shins it seems). a boar spear with cross guard wouldn't be bad. always have a large blade, axe, or sword/machete handy...

batteries and flashlights. omg. piles of them :)

i'm amazed they're getting a second season though. should be amusing.

Just got back from Wally World and had Walking Dead flashbacks after seeing some of the customers. Perhaps the virus is already here??

Barely stopped myself from breaking into the gun displays and shooting my way out.

driving around on Thanksgiving day. everything shut up, closed, the streets gray and empty... i was thinking to myself "self, go home and get moar survival gear..."

then i saw a couple crows eating some roadkill.

shortly later, the gas station had power, and was selling gas - good sign.

It is a TV show, there is no need to over analyze it, Bladite. It is good entertainment, not a job to study and see what you could do better. :D

I agree that it is a chance to study, but you must also enjoy it without thinking about it much. ;)

If it was completely accurate we couldn't really be discussing anything though, could we? :p

if it were COMPLETELY accurate, why then i might learn something... that would be ... cool :) prepare the people :>

like the episode where they ate wild mushrooms without knowing what they were? even in the most dire survival circumstance, unless you are POSITIVE you are going to die otherwise, and are willing to endure a most painful death if you are likely wrong anyway, never eat mushrooms as a survival move unless you are DAMN sure you know what they are (there are a handful that are almost foolproof, but not many)... best to eat tree bark, dirt, or your fellow camper :)

grin

You know, I'm reading Bladite's posts on here, and I got to thinking -- my mind wandered... or maybe it was his 100,000 rds of ammo phrase....that would be heavy, hard to move... unless.... What about .22LR? These things are dead and decaying. Would the skull perhaps be softening up? Because if so, .22LR would be THE survival gun, bar none, in that scenario.

1000+ rds of hollowpoint .22LR fit in a nalgene bottle :)

I just watched the first 3 episodes back to back and this is becoming one of my
favortie shows to date. AMC has some good shows with good production value.
Breaking Bad is another great one.
I actually read the comic books that Walking Dead is based on and I was
wondering while watching the show why the story seemed so familiar. Its a great
story plot and AMC is doing a real good job on interpreting the comic. Im stoked
because there already gave a thumbs up to season 2.

Well how ever you analyze it I don’t care. It has got my wife to thinking about what if scenarios so she has stopped picking on me about my “zombie” supplies. So I love the show for nothing else but that. She wants to plan alternate routers out of town etc. Plus she has encouraged me to buy another shotgun, Mossberg 930 SPX, just in case. SWEET!

Probably the best show on TV in a long time. I've always like zombie flicks, but honestly this show could be appealing to just about anyone in the way it approaches it. It's less about the zombies and more about how people react and deal with the situation.

Who'd have thought you could make a genuine drama out of zombies and not your run of the mill horror bloodbath type of show? Very well executed.

This past Sunday's episode felt a little slow and drawn out, but that probably makes sense since the season finale is this coming Sunday. Probably going to end with a bang and a good cliffhanger for season 2.

I know season 2 is about 13 episodes. But I'm curious as to how long we're going to have to wait. Please don't tell me it will be October of next year!

well. they finally broke camp. interesting. pretty funny moment there, almost a Portal experience with potential for the talking computer and cake :) hahah. maybe black Mesa?

they seem SO reluctant to move around, collect gas and supplies. man, i'd be filling 5 gallon jugs with the stuff. heck, i'd collect a trailer, and load that up, and maybe start making off highway caches. keeps you busy. keeps you moving.

maybe set up large scale booby-traps to lure walkers into and shred the little boogers. kinda like maybe a windmill, but sideways, and just beat them to a pulp, push the remains down a chute into a stream, automated, makes lots of noise. give it a couple weeks of fuel (or an actual windmill for power), and go make another one, and another one :)

then find a nice island in the middle of a lake or very large river, and hang out. don't think walkers can swim? or walk underwater? we're bound to find out ;)

OK, am I the only one that has a problem with the way Jim departed the group? I mean, COME ON!!!! That's aiding and abetting the enemy! If nothing else, wait like they did with ... um... Amy?

they're probably going to tell their CDC buddy that they left a live one 10 miles back, and they're going to secretly hunt him down and vivisect him. yeah. live samples. or he's going to recover and be a miracle! plus he can see the future.

there seems to be a few gaps in the storyline thus far.

did they REALLY write dixon out of the storyline after hightailing it to the cdc? i mean, it could be that he found the car meant for morgan but that seems like a stretch especially since he amputated his hand and likely didn't do a great job of cauterizing the wound to last very long. no mention of him aside from the bitter comment from dixon's brother, or any indication as to his whereabouts other than the van he stole from rick's rescue group.

is the random family REALLY dumb enough to drive 4+ hours from atlanta to bama in a zombie apocalypse? hopefully we find out what happens to them.

in terms of leaving jim, i suppose they couldn't stick around till he turned due to the fact that they were on the road with no real security measures like they had back at the camp. not that the tin cans helped much when the big attack went down.

hopefully this last episode brings some of the underlying questions to light.
