New ZT/Hinderer Flipper is Coming!!!0560/0561

Got my confirmation as well from KC. Suppose to show Saturday. The 550 may get jealous. Now get to work on the scales RH lol.

Hm, if KC is on the month of October then I wonder what month Dave is on. Even though I think I placed my preorder the end of last month, atleast it's good to know things are moving along. Maybe it won't be 18 months till I get mine. :)

Just got my notice from KC on the 560 also.. :thumb up: Now just waiting to hear from KW on my 561 ;)

Whoohoo! My shipping notice just came from KC also. 0560 ordered Nov 5th. Really thought I'd be way late in the line, very happily surprised by the ship notice. Thinking maybe I should put in a new way late "pre-order" from them for an 0561.

KC just emailed me regarding my 0561:

PLEASE NOTE: We are still waiting for your backordered item/items. When ALL items are ready to ship, we will ship your entire order in one shipment.

We will email you with any updates as they become available.

**If you have more than one item on this order, and you want us to partially ship your order, we can do that. Please note, there would be a shipping charge on all shipments. Please contact us if you want us to partially ship your order. Otherwise, we will ship your entire order when all items are in stock.**

Well I just snagged an 0561 last night from the Kershaw Store. I happened to check my email at the right time! I'd (almost :) ) feel badly since I haven't been waiting as long as some of you, but it seems like these are starting to really come out. Anyway, can't wait until Friday.

How's this for an EDC?

I received my ZT0561 today. Kershaw/ZT and Rick Hinderer my hat truly goes off to you guys. This literally has to be the most perfectly designed and manufactured knife I have ever received in my relatively brief time collecting knives. It was entirely worth the wait since June when I pre-ordered it and it is worth much more than $260. Fantastic job.

Cziv - Make no mistake - this is a hard use knife.....Please stop insinuating that this knife is not strong enough for hard use, since there is no evidence that there is any truth to this assumption...... I find it frustrating when people make statements based on assumptions rather than real world experience.

jimmer, I'm not insinuating anything. I was quoting your post, but first read this for my opinion on these folders:

Please don't be frustrated with me for making any assumptions based on your own posting. You characterized these knives as EDC's like a BM710 or Spyderco Para 2 or Military, CS Voyager for e.g. I see you edited your post to add that "these are hard use knives." So there you have it. That's what we expect from Zero Tolerance and now you've stated that and lifted it out of the common EDC category. And one more thing - you're talking about weight reduction and I'm referring to "how it was reduced." I personally don't care as much for a honey-combed handle design. A few weight reducing holes yes but not a skeleton of the original slab. I'm sure time will prove your design to be a trusted one.

I can completely understand if you don't care for how light the 0560 is - some people like heft, and some do not. However, if you're concerned that the 0560 is in any way weakened by the weight reduction, you are confusing perception with reality. The light weight may give you the perception of weakness, but the knife is actually a very strong build. I would not worry about breaking it during everyday use.......... However, you should have no problem cutting zip ties and rubber tubing.

I'm glad that you've changed the post that I originally quoted to state that these are hard use knives! You guys make 'em and I assume what you say is accurate. I'll shut up and allow you the time to read the link to my post of my impressions of my ZT 0560/0561. :)

I'm one of your long time customers - I wouldn't be one if I thought your knives were junk or horribly designed. ;)

Here are some pics of my 0560 with my Rapture from Peter R for comparison. One thing I noticed about the 0560...it looks like my Kershaw Groove in many ways...including an 80% increase in "bulk". My Groove may weigh slightly more.

Cziv - My apologies if my tone came off harsh. In my original post I was simply stating that the knife would easily perform everyday tasks, not that it was a light duty piece. I have carried 0300's and 0200's as EDC's and they are great knives, but sometimes it's nice to have something that is less heavy. Our goal was to make a knife that provided the best of both worlds - a heavy duty knife that felt much lighter in the pocket. We took care to make sure that the strength wasn't compromised by the lightening.

We took care to make sure that the strength wasn't compromised by the lightening.

Now THAT is good news...I really like my 0300...but its like carrying a can of soup in my pocket. Now with my 0560 I have the ruggedness of my 0300 with the lightweight of my Groove. Goal achieved.

Ahhh...

I get home from work 15 minutes early; nice bowl of creamy potato soup w/ bacon, "The Usual Suspects" on HBO, check my email, and... BINGO! My 0560 shipped, for arrival Friday.

Oh yeah,.. order date Aug 9th.

If I may chime in on the weight issue...
I like an over-built chunky handfull. That said, both my 0200 and 0300 (love 'em both, mind you) are too much in my pocket, EXCEPT when around the house / garage, etc. My precious 0551, El Perfecto. It's a tough fist-full of **BANG** but the design is proportionally pleasant to me.

My 551 shares "Top Drawer" space with several others, TWO of which will be going head-to-head with the 0560. For similar size, weight, and just flabbergasting deployment, the Hogue EX-01, and AG Russel Acies. Now the Acies is more like a large Sebenza and not strictly a "hard use" knife, but the deployment is... well, it's just mystical. Oh.. and If I remember correctly, Kershaw makes the Acies for AG Russle (correct me if I'm wrong) In fact the low-carry clip looks a whole lot like the photos of the clip on the 560.

Now the INTERESTING compare, will be with the Hogue EX01. Some love it. Some hate it. I WAY love it, as it manages to be very light and STILL absolutely tough. Some say it feels "cheap". I can understand why they feel that way, it is a very subjective thing.

One last word...

Just, congrats to the whole ZT / KAI / Kershaw team for banging out one home run after another, but especially for this 056X project. I'm not quite as knife-crazy as a lot of "knife guys" I read, but it's really been a blast watching, and being part of the whole ball of wax. It been a wild ride, lately. Lots of fun.

I received yesterday the same mail, but no surprise since I ordered my 0560 just a month ago :(
