New ZT0550 Thread !!!

after calling ZT they said that sometimes it is a break in issue..hm.seems i wont be sending it in after all! :] woo!

I know mine seemed to develop a similar issue when I opened it fairly gently; just a hint of vertical play unless I squeezed the lockbar.
But after wiping the excess lube off the tang, it locks up tighter.

I want mine back bad! I hope it's a quick turn around. :)

Yeah same situation with me. Going off of what kershaw customer service told me, I should have had it in hand on Friday. Well, here on Monday, still no knife in sight. Now I'm wondering if I will have to go ANOTHER weekend without this knife. I'm glad everyone else is so enamored with their customer service, but my patience is definitely wearing very thin.

Or ANOTHER day! The horror of it all.

I see you couldn't stay away from the forums :D do you have an estimate when the balance of Kershway guy's first inventory will be done?
Making sure everyone is satisfied here. I don't know about Dave's order, sorry.

Thomas W,

Thanx! for your concern.

Now,please take a real break.

Turn off your daym computer, and spend some time with your folks...or fishing,hunting,sailing...or catch up on your sleep.

We'll still be here when you get back.

Hopefully,with positive questions.

Like: Did you seriously take a couple days off?

And: what's next on the horizon?

Or: any New Years Resolutions that involve a ZT/H 4" Spanto Flipper?(Sorry;had to push the idea when I had the chance!)

Because after the way you have been bending over backwards to accomodate us and 'keep everybody satisfied',frankly I don't see how you put up with us knifevultures; myself included.

Bet Kershaw CS is very, very concerned that your patience is wearing thin.

Quit yer whinin'....grow up......if need be, we can charge on over to NambyPamby Land, and get you some.:D

The knife will be there shortly, and hopefully you like it.

We are talking DAYS here, not weeks, and not months.

Best Regards,

Dam. It's just a {although I feel the same the word does not belong here} knife. Does this knife really mean that much to you? You sound like a 5 year old.

Keep in mind that there's always the chance that it's the post office at fault. My knife also took longer than expected to arrive(on Oahu), at which point I asked Dave about it and he dug up a tracking number whereupon I find out that the post office missent the item to the other side of the island:eek:!

So long as the dealer confirms shipment from their end, all blame lies with the postal service.

P.S.

My knife has now fully broken in and opens like warm butter.

Come on, folks, take it easy...I'm sure we can all appreciate that the inconvenience of having to return such a highly-anticipated knife for repairs might stress some people out.

Still, Kirk_Ferentz, like others have said, Kershaw has really seems to have done all they can to resolve the issue...it's just a matter of waiting for your local post office to get your knife back to you.

Can I track it for you tomorrow?

Not necessary. I probably made it sound like a bigger deal than I should. If they had just told me that it would be a few days, I would have been fine with it (but they made it sound like it would be rushed through and then out the door overnight, so my expectations were off). The other thing is that I have no idea if it has been processed or is in route or what because I have received no word. But whatever, if I get it in the next few days, I will consider it a quick turnaround time anyway. It is probably just a pet peeve of mine about what I perceive as vendors' tendency to mis-portray turnaround and shipping times (a fairly minor issue).

I go on hikes in areas where I can't take a fixed blade for fear of getting in trouble with the law, and this is really the only reliable folder that I own, so it isn't a matter of completing a collection or something for me--I really need it to use. Also, I bought it to be my primary field dressing knife for my upcoming hunting trip in about 10 days, so that is the biggest issue for me.

I'm sure I will get it in the next few days and all will be well.

im pretty sure that depends on the grit used.

Regards,

Alex

Read my comment again, as long as you are sanding smoother, I doubt it will get any grippier.

In general, media blasted finishes are pretty rough (again, depends on the type and grit of the media). Most sandpaper grits are going to smooth the surface and it certainly appears that "trix2004" did that to his 0551 as the grit he used was likely finer than the media blasting.

Rich

You know it's freaking Christmas season at the post office? Priority mail is getting a recommended delivery time of five (5) days. I have to packages coming my way from someone just a few states away (birthday presents - yay) and they still haven't come and my birthday was on the 27th!
