I can't read 75 pages to find out the answer to #3; went back a ways and it's still not clear.

Can someone post pics of the two?

Three things:

1) The ZT 0550 hasn't been released yet.

2) The ZT 0551 uses Elmax steel, whereas the ZT 0550 uses Vanax 35

3) The knives have different patterns on their G-10 scales.

The current word is that the ZT 0550, like the ZT 0551, will have a stonewashed blade finish.

Major difference is the blade steel.

0550 Vanax 35
0551 ELMAX

The 0550 is also not final yet so design differences may or not happen. Thomas said supply of Vanax 35 is delaying 0550 production.
 
Edge retention? Wear resistance?
Actually both of these ......arent they close to the same thing ??
I just like to here about blade steel facts and the likes.

Mine came back from the factory today and everything is perfect, liner is new, lock-up is tight and just in time for christmas! I know what's opening my presents :D

I'm sorry that I've not kept up on this thread, but earlier it looked like the 0550 had a fair-sized notch in the choil. Personally, I'd prefer the same blade style as the 0551 whereas there's more useful blade area. Can someone please enlighten me on this? Thank you.

The choil was the 1st thing to go - you'd have to read back about 500,000 posts to find that out though. It's Christmas so this is my gift to you. NO choil - only on the prototype. :)

Nope.

Not sure what happened there.

I emailed Kershawguy once,and he replied: no news yet.

Really want one with a black blade...

Until they make one in something darker.

I am on the "short pre-order list" too and was gonna hold off for one of those he spoke of if it was gonna be done. :)

Time will tell........ ;)
 
Is there any chance more 0551's will be available? I got on the list recently, and worry I am waiting on something that won't happen.
