New ZT0550!!!

Work knife in a construction environment. My 0551 should see all kinds of use ranging from light tasks to some heavy use.

I'll be EDC'ing mine in rotation and cutting open mundane things like zip ties, stubborn plastic bags of veggies, cardboard Priority Mail boxes, whittling toothpicks for my wife, who loves handmade toothpicks from our pear tree. fairly light duty I suppose? :o

I do a lot of remodeling work, plumbing, and general construction stuff as well as the mundane office crap from time to time. I like having a knife I can rely on for any given task... this should fit the bill just fine and will give my izula serious pocket time competition.

Mine will be used as a work knife at a trucking company, so lots of cardboard, plastic ties, rope, and who only knows from there. I wouldn't be surprised if pry bar wasn't in its future at some point.

Mine will be in my carry rotation at work and home. At work, it'll be cutting tape, cardboard, cable ties, plastic packaging, string, fishing line, rubber tubing, etc, basically anything you might come across and need to cut in a department store's sporting goods section. At home, it'll be opening mail and packages, helping prune plants, cutting back small brush, general home repairs, basically any use you could imagine around a house.

Mine will perform mostly light duty work unless I take up some new hobby that requires more. It will have to endure a lot of fondling also. :)

I am not an EDC-er ... it will go on camping/hunting/hiking/other outdoor trips with me. Depending on how good of a slicer it is, it might become my go-to blade for gutting/skinning an animal. I feel like the blade length and width should be very good for that application. On camping trips, it will be in my pocket the whole time and will see the various bushcraft sort of tasks around the camp, although I have other knives that it will split time with ... mostly when I want a smaller blade (e.g. carving up some fine tinder) or want to use a stainless blade (e.g. slicing up some food).

But there will also be times when I go on hikes or what not in areas where I worry that I might get hassled about having a knife (in California, a lot of areas that are rough terrain but also where you can run into ordinances/laws), so it will be the lone knife on me, and would be used for whatever is demanded if I find myself in a pickle. For this application, I wanted a tough, hard use folder ... basically a substitute for my swamp rat.

It might also be my primary knife if and when I am in a wet environment where I want a stainless blade, such as a canoeing/kayak trip.

I hope to use it over at least the next decade for hopefully many great outdoor adventures.

As alot of people who have Hinderer knives know I absolutly love to hear about the hard use they put my knives through!

Rick

hi...thats MY knife i put in hard use;)

the zt is not VERY legal in my contry for edc, i will propably use is as my hiking knife, seems it will do any task i need it to do.

and some times i will use it as an edc, just so i can enjoy it some more:D

EDC for construction work and camping/boating.

Need some more work or no new knives for me.:(

I just found out about this crazy deal goin on here this morning. I asked to be put on the list but gotta wait for a few people to drop off  IF I can get my hands on one it will be my regular EDC carry knife and that means everything from cardboard boxes to mule deer. Seriously, great lookin knife.

EDC hard use for me. I have some island acreage and everything from hiking to grounds maintenance big box opening to wire stripping to opening a coconut. I will also be using it for slicing sandwiches.

Here a question I have for all you guys that have a 551 on order...whats your planned use for the knife? duty knife? ...
Rick

If kershawguy has told you that you are on the list, does that mean that you are definitely going to get a knife when he gets them done or does it mean something less certain?

After a shakedown mine will probably live in my turnout pants.

A few weeks back 1 of the guys came up and handed me my orange xm-18 he had found during overhaul. I must have pulled it out of my pocket getting a screwdriver or dykes out. It could have easily been covered with wet Sheetrock and lost forever. As much as I love carrying and using my bulletproof xm-18 having a cheaper knife might be better overall. I will switch my xm-18 to another set of gear. I am nervous about not having a flipper because at this point that is all I carry or use. It works great with gloves. Not sure how well the thumbstud will work for me. But I will give it a try. If it doesn't work or I don't like it I guess I will just have to get another xm-18.

Just curious, but why don't you carry a knife around on a day to day basis?

Edit: And for those that didn't get on Kershawguy's list there are going to be plenty of other places carrying the knife. I don't know which ones off hand, but you're not out of a knife yet.

I'm not really sure how many of them he has coming, but I'm on his list. I wouldn't buy a Kershaw or ZT from anyone else if possible. :)

Edit: Just wanted to point out that there should be plenty of other vendors to pick it up at if you didn't make the Kershawguy list.

And for those that didn't get on Kershawguy's list, he is only getting --- knives or so, there are going to be plenty of other places carrying the knife. I don't know which ones off hand, but you're not out of a knife yet.

This information is not accurate and should not even be discussed in open forum, I have a main list and a standby list and everyone that has emailed me knows which they are on.

Thanks
Dave

This knife will definitely end up in my daily carry rotation. Along with the Military, XM18, Gayle Bradley, ZT0400 and a couple other choice cutting tools. This one will be fed a steady diet of cardboard (double walled variety), nylon straps, and drywall- Basically any material that stands in the way of completed projects. :)

If I can get a second, it will make a birthday gift for a family friend that owns and operates a 10 acre farm. He is 73 years old and works from sun up to sun down. He'd appreciate the hard use variety knife.

Sorry about that Dave. Anyways, the point was that people that didn't get on your list can still possibly get a knife else where.
