Next to bed knife?

lockbox.jpg

I don't keep knives next to the bed. I don't want to accidentally grab one instead of my .45

Ever heard the story of a guy who was sleeping and his phone rang; half asleep he picked up his gun instead of his phone and blew his own head off.

I have been sleeping with a firearm next to my bed for the last 18 years and I am still here.

And for the gentlemen who refuses to keep firearms around children, see my lockbox above. Only my wife and I know the code, my two kids know not to ever touch it.

Besides a gun, anyone here sleeping with something sharp?
I usually keep my Spyderco J.D. Smith there. I also keep a United Cutlery 16" Expandable Baton there - you could beat the bark off someone with those things. Brutal.

KaBar, surefire, and a tomahawk. No pistolas allowed while I'm living at home.

What SHE keeps beside the bed. :D Was my first thought after seeing the pic.

Heh :D I did think about that as I was posting :D It does look a bit (maybe a lot) like a vibrator. Decided to add the expanded baton pic and open blade so there would be no confusion.

Whatever my newest knife is. Not for any practical or defensive reason-- I just like to fondle my new toy before bed.

i keep all my knives near my bed, just so i know where they are when i wake up..but if i needed to take one out for any reason at night it would be my Glock 81 knife

A dull suit of medieval armor, claymore, and war horse are all always ready to go by me bed!:D

I sleep with a Glock 23 right beside me on the bedside table. Never grabbed it by accident. If that story is true that guy was probably a darwin award winner his whole life.

A white oak training katana for a mild beating, an 18" milled face framers hammer for a serious beating, and a 5' crepe myrtle branch hiking stick with an M7 bayonet firmly attached for a 'keep your distance or you will get seriously punctured' ;) type situation, my dog also sleeps inside and roams the house. All that said I have never had to actually use any of them in anger and if I investigate a noise I usually do it with a torch only - it's a 1000 lumen torch so is almost a weapon in itself hehe.
Guns are not really a legal option here.

I keep a 1/4 inch 3 foot copper pipe between my bed and night table, aswell as whatever knife I EDC'd that day.

Glock 40, two mags, and a Busse Basic 11 (the B11 has an 11 inch blade, and is tucked in the mattress in a fast slip sheath that stays put if I grab the knife, sometimes the Busse KZII (12 inch blade on a Khukri).

In my country (Sweden), one may only bring as much violence to the table as the aggressor, or what is deemed reasonable. This means that if your friendly burglar is unarmed, you can't shoot him with your gun, stab him with your knife or redecorate your livingroom with his brains via a baseball bat. "You may only use as much violence as the situation calls for", is what is stated in the law; and, it means that the system doesn't let you get the upper hand. It can turn on you. If you take out your shotty on an unarmed burglar, he can say that HE felt threatened and took out a gun in self defense, because he just wanted to steal some stuff, not hurt anybody... and we should feel sorry for him having taken the wrong path in life whilst the homeowner gets the blame. It's sick, right?! It pretty much goes without saying that martial arts are extremely popular over here.

I keep my endura4 next to the bed. It's really only there because it would sit unused otherwise.

I keep a CRKT M21 on my nightstand. There is also a Buck 119 on the stand's lower shelf. It's next to my Glock 19, which is my first choice.

I have my Murray Carter neck knife hung from my headboard in case the SHTF and we are in a WOL situation and someone breaks into my house and comes up close and personal to me will be welcomed by a forged Hitachi blue steel laminated ataboy!! I also use it to open toiletries because my bathroom is right there next to my bed room.
