Nick Wheeler Prototype Fighter. "Oh YEA "......

Somebody mentions my weight and the thread count goes up by 2,000 views...  :)

Sorry to disappoint, but it's still 245/250 for the last 4 years :) If Angi would quit making me eat candy all the time, I'm sure I'd drop like a rock back to 200. ;)

Actually, I think the view count goes up a couple thousand whenever we see Angi posting. :p

Similar to my relationship with my wife--I accuse her of making it impossible for me to diet, and then ... she drops me like a rock. :D

I have already had a couple of inquiries about sheaths for this Wheeler/Paranee.

The basic choices will be:

Scout Carry either right or left hand draw. This is a two loop sheath set up for center of the back use and does not do really well
otherwise. Can snap on and off.

Sash Style no belt loop, meant to be slipped under belt or sash up to the retaining stud. Can be IWB as well.

Angled Cross Draw, for either right or left hand draw. Works best on the front right or left quarter of the body depending on draw
choice

Straight Vertical Belt Loop, right or left carry. Made much like the sash Style, but with a vertical carry belt loop.

Color choices are Black, Russet (tan), Chestnut ( red toned brown), and Brown. Plain or tooled

Optional Inlays are applicable to any except the Scout Carry. Sash and Scout are shown in photo below. Fancy stud is customer supplied only.

Paranee will post a picture of the Scout Carry being worn later.

I'm going with a very cool and different-looking piece of stabilized flame walnut for mine (the piece on the right). It's still going to have that dark look overall, but with some very interesting highlights in the wood.

Roger

After looking at the full-res photo of this walnut I’m really impressed with your choice, Roger. Obviously the refined taste of a fine wood connoisseur at work here:

I’m struck by what a fine companion piece that would make to one of Jason’s Founders bowies with the black-died tiger maple. Do you happen to have one? If so, would love to see those two together once you receive your Wheeler.

Thanks Will - unfortunately I missed out on the Knight Founders series. Gorgeous bowie and a great deal, just bad timing for me with other deliveries. I did get to see two of them at Blade though - the guys that have 'em are fortunate indeed. It will be one of my nominees for Best Bowie 2011 for sure. Glad I was able to get in on this series though, and I'll be keeping an eye open for whatever else JoeP comes up with down the road.

Pappy - I figure I'll go with a scout sheath for mine - I don't have one in that style.

Roger

...and i'll expect you to be sporting this at hunting camp this year - no excuses! I wanna see this pig!

Here are some quick pics my honey took with her cell phone so there not great
this is a scout sheath very comfortable to carry not great to sit in a car

Fine to sit on chair or 4 wheeler, bike etc.

The quick release Sam brown straps make for quick on and off when getting in car or resheathing

Hides very well with suit jacket , flannel or any other cover garment also under large untucked t shirt

My kids wanted to go out on the salt water boat so I ran north up the coast after some bay fishing and ended up in NY got to show them the Statue Of Liberty and a view of NY few get to see

It was great to show them Ellis Island where there grandfather came over

Kinda of topic but really cool

Beautiful picture Joe (taken by your lovely wife or a least her phone)

Almost brings tears to my eyes to think how many passed through those doors, gave up everything they had, risked their very lives and "studied" to become Americans.
Now they cross anywhere convenient and your government gives them the pensions our parents and grandparents worked for - while our veterans and seniors starve!

No derailing of this fine thread meant but that is a symbol of freedom and opportunity of our once great country...

Amen Michael

It was great to show them NY from the water

Thought some of you might like that photo

Joe, thats awesome. Glad you went up and had a good time. New York is a great place.

The knife is killer. Looks great and compact the way your wearing it. Im upset (very upset) that I have missed this opportunity to get a wheeler fighter.

Hey Nick... Am I still on your mental list for a "badass" fighter sometime?

Great pic Joe! Glad you had some quality time with the family.

Roger, that block of walnut is just about perfect!!

Micheal very good points in your last post, it is sad how things have gone in the illegal immigration situation. On a positive note I have a couple of newly proud Legal American citizen friends that know more US history due to the citizenship test than many native born americans.
Wish this was the case more often.

Jeff ps Paul that decides it! a blk scout sheath, plain but very user friendly.

Awesome!!! :)

Would love to see that part of the country. My great-great-grandparents came through Ellis Island on their way here from Germany.

Thanks for sharing Joe! :)

edited to say- All of the original orders are heat-treated and I'm starting to work on finishing out 3 at a time. That will allow me to keep things moving forward, not get overwhelmed, and stay efficient by not changing set-ups as much as doing one knife at a time would require. :)

and that right there is the majyck and myth of taking the time to make all different kinds of knife holding jigs:thumbup:

Beautiful perspective on the grand lady, Joe--thanks. Nice to think of "Liberty" embodied and enshrined in that gracefully dominant image, rather than statues of flesh-and-blood kings and emperors that are so prolific and self-serving for ruling classes in other cultures.

I like to think our national memorials to individuals have much more to do with humanity and sacrifice than how utterly they wielded power. But in my mind this tribute to Liberty, the ideal that more than any other compelled our country's birth, is very much a part of what's still right with the USA.
