Its a fad, in one day and gone the next....

That's what I thought a few years ago. I don't think it's going away any time soon.

Most of my personal knives are done up in muted colors and earth tones, too. But there is actually a point to neon handles at least, besides the zombee fad... being able to find your knife if you drop it in the leaves makes more sense to a lot of folks than losing it because it's camo :D (Cuz y'know, deer and mythical bad guys notice things like a non-camo knife handle or flashlight...) But of course, camo on everything ain't going away, either.

The choil that Dex put on his 7 has me pondering some craziness.

and I would love to have one of those ruger .44 carbines - even the lever action version would be OK.

the carbines are super hard to locate, i found one and immediately bought it.

deerfields are more common

the K77/44 is dead easy to get, not a bad price, super accurate. throws big thumbs :D

yeah, there's a stainless lever action that i want - sexy

and it wouldn't suck to get some super blackhawk's in .44 Magnum, and the weird calibers :D

though for revolvers, you want weird, there are 7.62x54R versions, and other similarly large, dumb things :D

amusing: new S&W 629 5 shot snubby .44 Magnum :>

.44 Magnum, the favorite of Hickok45

My almost 4 year old son just walked up to the computer looked at me browsing this thread and said to me; "daddy that's a cool knife. I think we need to go knife shopping!" Please take me to the knife store!"

Now the boy is pressuring me into buying something....wonder how mad the wife would be if we did a little shopping tomorrow... keeping in mind it was HIS idea :D

Use it as a teaching opportunity. Show him some outdoors or kitchen skills with his/y'all's new knife... especially kitchen skills. :)

Steak wrapped in bacon.
Steamed spinich.
Potatoes cooked in bacon grease and steak drippings, then pan seared once they were cooked.
Beaujolais-Villages by Louis Jadot wine.

I love my wife. My idea, her cooking. Sooooo tasty.

Looks delicious! You might get lucky tonight! lol.

Very nice, Silverthorn!

I had some leftover kalua pig (pork blade/butt roast), so I added some cabbage fried in bacon grease, Sriracha, and put it over rice. Not quite so fancy, but good chow before the pig hunting tonight.

I want an 11! The wife has been on strict side financially lately. With #3 on the way.... I can understand her. Maybe I'll get BK11 x2 ;)

Good excuse ;) the next time we head up north a bit to my brothers place I'll be sure to take the wee man and some BK goodness

What are you thinking? You gonna choil one of your blades? Do tell!

That is AWESOME!! Very SICK!! Man he did a great job putting that choil on there too. It looks like it came from the factory that way.

Thanks WW. It did take a while to get it right.

I was actually out in the garage a couple of hours ago fondling my Junglas, BK-9, and that modded BK-7. I am debating whether I should make the choil a tad larger?

Also thinking of choiling a BK-9.

It came out great bud!!

How big is the choil? ~1" ? I think choils should be just big enough to fit your finger. Not too small that it pushes the finger into the blade, but not too large it takes away too much from the cutting edge. If your finger fits comfortably i would leave the choil alone personally.

Choils are tricky. They are either comfortable or not, and if not they can ruin a knife. I have sold a couple knives just because the choil felt uncomfortable when choked up. Too square, sharp edges, or whatever. If it is uncomfortable to choke up on then the choil took away cutting edge with no benefit. Basically ruining the knife IMO.

Yours looks great. round and smooth. Great job really.
