Anybody ever read anything from Peter Capstick? I'm going back through some of his books. Good rollicking stuff, if a little bit sensationalistic.

Wait a minute......... So my BK-15 is not a full tang??? What a piece of crap.

I just checked all off my other Becker knives........... they are not full tang either!!!

All 42 of my Becker knives will be up in the exchange shortly. I can't believe I was mislead all this time.

Man.................is it just me or does this Snark title keep changing, Like every 5 minutes? lol

I've decided I am going to merge all of Worldwood's posts until his post count goes back down to a reasonable amount. ;)

There ya go. Of his 5,390 posts in the Becker forum, I'm willing to bet 5,300 of those is right here in the snark thread. ;)

Yep, have read "Death in the long grass" and " Death in the dark continent ", good reads.

Aw man, boys. You guys are killing me. I just ate some delicious homemade shepherd's pie and now I want kalua pig! And it's always "kalua pig", never "kalua pork"... Here you can buy it premade from most places, but homemade is always better! Granite, did you ever eat laulau while you were here?

Good look with the pua'a, GSO. Get some hogs and get some pics!
Never had laulau - too busy having kalua pig.
The pre-made kalua pig was what I was introduced to....but I've never found it NH (I know, hard to believe) so I've resorted to making cheap knockoffs. I never spend the time to slow roast it in the oven....and even though it's not the same outta the crockpot, it's still pretty good. And easy. Might hafta make some soon, now that I'm thinking about it. Damn you, Greg! Damn all of you and your luscious food photos, making me drool on my screen. I think the BK&T calorie count exceeds even the weight of my phat BK2.

Hey Nathan, if you get a chance check out "Death in the Silent Places". It's about the old-time African explorers, like W. D. Bell and Col. Patterson. Lots of info and tales on some hard, hard characters.

The mods keep changing it, I keep changing it back. I was quite satisfied with the original title. I don't know why the mods weren't but I'm gonna keep changing it back.

So, apparently (I was just informed) I need to get a cast iron dutch oven by second week of March. I am going camping, however with a group that doesn't usually go camping. Their idea of "roughing it" is staying at the Red Roof Inn™.

So you are the babysitter basically? Good luck on that trip. :D

Basically, yes. Maybe the cook. However I'm good with being the cook. I'm looking forward to being the cook, not so much the babysitter but it's dirt time. We are gonna spend some time on the river too. The rest of the group is gonna be fishing too. So, this should be an interesting trip at least.

Thanks for the recommendation! My mate just scored a copy of The Hunter's Encyclopedia, dated 1957. He paid 5 bucks for it.

Sounds fun. And being the cook is always great, and you can never go wrong with fresh fish. I enjoy cooking too.
Take some pics.

I prefer being the cook. I might need to get another 5 by then as well. It's rough to be a camp cook without a 5. I have the 9 to chop the wood, and the 2 to maul the wood, but I need something to chop the food.

A 5 is a must if your cooking for groups of people. With a 5 and a 15 your set. I use my 16 in the kitchen a lot as well, but nothing gets the job done like the 5.
