Anybody have any ZT knives? If so, what do you think?

I know I am late to the party and hopefully you got the answers you sought - I figured I would chime in anyway. The ZT 0301 was the first "nice" folder that I ever bought myself - prior to that it was mostly Cold Steel and such.

I bought the ZT 0301 because I saw it on an episode of NCIS and as corny as that show might be, I do credit it somewhat for getting me into nicer knives. Anyway, ZTs suit Beckerheads well - they are overbuilt tanks of knives and Kershaw's warranty/spa service is badass. I mostly carry slipjoints now and a fixed if I need something more robust but I would never hesitate to recommend a ZT - some of the designs are dumb (in my opinion) but most of them are pretty awesome.

I ended up trading my 0301 to Mack (protourist) for a big ol' Seigle. It worked out.

Anybody by a new knife lately?

Yep. With GEC being shut down right now, I thought my bank account would get a reprieve but I've been buying quite a bit...

Got a sweet new Siegle (not the one I got from Mack - that's a different Seigle).

I can neither confirm or deny that there are likely others...

Awesome post and thank you for the ZT info. :)

That's why I'm glad I live in a rural environment in the free-est state in the free-est country.

When I needed to build a new garage, I just had it built. Ditto with a new work shop and a bathroom/laundry room/office addition to the house. When I needed to tear down a building or cut a few trees or plant an orchard - done.

Sorry for y'all's issues, but no HOAs or no city rules for me. Gotta paint your house to a list of "approved" colors? Can't replace a roof without a permit? Some dumbass board dictating what I can or can't do???

Nope.

hmmm... sometimes I wonder how wrong I am, in Cali. of the east (MD).

New shed. Check, done. Turned out it was smaller than permit required. Well, I guess that’s good.

New deck? Done. Permit? Uhhhh ... whut?

New patio off the deck. Done. Permit?? Uhhh.... whut?

I am pretty rural, for MD. I don’t know if a permit was required for any of that. Actually, I do. The shed was small enough a permit was not required. Don’t know about the rest, as they weren’t sheds.

as far as I’m concerned, I don’t really care a lot. If I’m getting someone to do it and they say a permit is required, then so be it. If I’m doing it myself...

I live in that same free state as zzy, but unfortunately the work provided house I currently live in is in a neighborhood with an HOA. We had "stealth" chickens for the last year until one of the neighbors decided they didn't like them and ratted us out to the HOA about a month ago, and we had to get rid of them. Drives me NUTS!!! I'm glad to have somewhere to live and all, but this is a little town. Everyone should have chickens!!!!

There was a bill before the state legislature last session that would have made it legal for everyone to have 3 chickens in their yards regardless of what HOA's said, but it died in committee.

I might start a lobbying group before the next session.

But, at least the HOA hasn't ruled out fires.
It's supposed to be up to 93 by Tuesday, but tonight it's an unusually cool 66 right now, so I'm squeezing in one more fire before the heat of summer kicks in.

Also, AMAZING photos Padruig! (I have no idea how to do that accent over the "a")

Thanks, fellas! It helps when good looking knives make it easy .

Dylan - that lambsfoot swayback is pure sexy.
and how does the golden nectar compare to quinta ruban?

I haven't had the Quinta Ruban in quite some time but I do remember liking it quite a bit. This one was a gift and is pretty darn good for a Highland, sweet as can be expected. Definitely on the lighter side of Scotch whiskies but it just makes it that much more drinkable and isn't hard to pair stuff with it. I like most whiskies that aren't garbage but I usually prefer Islays and is what I end up buying when shopping for Scotch.

Islays are my preference, too, but I'll not turn down a gift given with good intentions.
For camping scotch, the McClelland islay is pretty decent. A little sharp up front to start and less smoke than the "L" islays, but for less than $25 a fifth..... It's a 3-7 year old bowmore product

absolutely fine!
clay lining is drying on 2 forges (rebuilt mine, helping a buddy build one for himself)
today's work clothes have been sprayed down with permethrin, so they're hanging up outside in the sun to dry
fed barn cats
fed dogs and played with them until they asked to go back outside
going to be going some tree cutting today, so I made a pot of coffee for the helpers, a pot of tea for SWMBO, some red-eye cheese grits and 3 eggs scrambled for breakfast.

hope Triggs had a good birthday and everyone is doing well up your way.

Cottonwood.
And yeah, I could cut and cure enough lumber out of those trees to make a timber frame shop - if I had a way to get the sawmill to the logs or to get the logs to the sawmill.

Unfortunately, I don't own a dozer to build a path to them or a copter to lift them out.

But with tree hunting like there gone and dun, isn't it good sportsmanship to cut down and release it for some other tree hunter to stalk?
