No Walking Dead thread

world war z is a very good book. I can't wait to see the movie. I can just picture it in my head lol.

I'm reading World War Z right now for the second time. It actually is a decent book. It keeps your attention and you can tell Brooks did more research (technically) on this one than he did with the Zombie Survival Guide. (Yes, I know the Zombie Survival Guide was meant to be funny and I'm also aware Max Brooks is Mel Brooks' son. :))

I like how The Walking Dead hasn't kept to the books' storyline. Keeps me guessing every week as to what'll happen next. I like how the writer(s) have maintained the aspect echoed in the books that no character is too important to the show to be killed off. My prediction is that Shane won't make it to next season.

Here's the thing though...with at least one more group of hostile survivors in the region, how much firepower is Ricks group giving up by offing Shane? They need him if things get ugly as he's one of their best gunners.

The man who lets loose a horde of zombies upon your group needlessly just to prove a point of machismo is not going to keep your group safe. He will eventually bring it to ruin by acts of grave miscalculation at the mercy of his own emotions. He would have shot dale in his face if dale had made one iota of actual physical threat, he would have killed their one mechanic because he presented a dissenting view of shanes authority.

While Shane may be a hot head, I can't fault him for wanting to kill walkers whenever and wherever they are present regardless of who they were. With that being said I still think the group would be better off without him. While he has the right ideas sometimes his execution of those ideas could have a bit more thought before he goes ahead.

A sense of humor, might look at finding one, I hear that its worth the trouble of visiting comedy clubs and reading joke books. Honestly.

Look at Jody's post history and you will never see a disrespectful tone or a cross word for anyone.

It was a joke.

It was this kind of defensive behavior that caused a LOT of trouble here fairly recently, lets please not go there again. This place is getting fun again, I dont want to see it spiral down once more. :(

When I saw the post I did not read is as joke.I also did not feel the need to respond to the post,I just used the ignore button.

I didn't see it as a joke either, but I chalked it up to alcohol :p all his other posts around that time are notably more caustic than his usual posts. That whiskey, I tell you!

I loved season one, and can't wait to watch season two once it is available on Netflix. Were there a lot of Busses in the first season?

We had SOME air time in the first season, but this season they are showing Daryl doing a lot more with the TG

If something inflammatory has to be explained so that people know it is a joke... perhaps it shouldn't be said to begin with?

I think you may have a point there. :)

Voracious has never been the same since the whole sordid tree chopping episode at Blade one year. :p I blame it on TV.

My 23 year old son and I got in to a lively discussion of the Rick / Shane leadership styles, and talked about which one the each of us would prefer if we were in
the group with them. With Rick, you have nobility, honor, and a sense of doing the right thing, whether you are a part of his group or not. The downside to this is that he tries to rescue every lost puppy he comes across, putting himself and others at risk (you can't lead a group if you're dead).

Shane, while borderline psychotic at times, prioritizes his immediate group. If you are outside the circle of who he cares for, prepare to be shot in the leg and be zombie chow. He very much avoids putting his neck out for anyone not in the group, and assumes the worst of strangers (don't take a chance, kill them so they can't bring friends back to attack, etc). He doesn't hesitate to act in defense of the group, although he does so recklessly at times.

I would go with Shane. Except if he was trying to bang my wife behind my back :)

On semi related note, I wonder if they will auction off the props when the show completes it's run! How much would a hog pay for Daryl's Team Gemini? :)

Cheers!

I'm sure Daryl would let go of his Team Gemini for the right amount of zombie ears.

I wouldn't want want either one of them but someone with the best qualities of both.

and Shane would be trying that with any woman around.

Unfortunately, Shane isn't prioritizing his immediate group. He says he is a lot, but all he cares about is Rick's wife and son. He would abandon/kill any of his own group if he decided that it would be the best way to protect those two or himself. Which makes him a terrible leader.

Rick isn't a perfect leader, or even a good one sometimes... but he is a better choice than Shane.

He is willing to sacrifice important members of the group (otis, a paramedic, dale, a (nearly so) mechanic, and probably rick/hershel if pushed enough) for personal gain. How far does that go before it transitions from 'protecting the group' to 'destroying it from the inside'?

Shane sucks hope he gets eaten.

Great episode tonight!!

Anyone catch a glimpse of Daryl's TG being drawn during the previews for next week's episode? He's got what looks like a brown leather basketweave sheath. Anyone recognize the brand? I wouldn't want it because I am anti-leather for sheaths and holsters...just curious.

I did and in fact just got finished ordering a TGLB from Busse because of it..... My name is Redhat and I can finally admit that I have a problem.

It looked like Rick and Shane worked out their issues tonight but the previews for next week would suggest otherwise. I thought for sure Rick was leaving Shane in that bus.

Who do you guys think is the next main character to axed or turned into Zombie kibble?

Hershel failed to make an appearance tonight which i thought was interesting.

Tonight's show was brutal. Iv'e been waiting for a good fight between Shane and Rick.

I think they are showing that Shane is delusional with him saying that they would have to change the fact that Rick is the leader.Really, who is going to follow him...Andrea is the only one I can see that would side with him.

Lots of knives in tonight's episodes... anyone get any makes/models?

I dunno if they're all Gerbers, but Shane had a folder with very aggressive gimping on the front. I'm pretty sure Rick was using a large gerber folder from the last episode.

can anyone confirm?
