Power company just left. There was a break in the wire, hence the surges. Now we have to contact the insurance company so they'll pay for a tree trimmer. Tree is still on the roof. Hopefully there's no/not much damage to the roof. Didn't seem to be leaking anywhere.

I keep a few knives in the tool box I use at work, they come in handy for sandwiches, melons, etc.

But today, I had a pressing need to cut through styrofoam backing on a ramp door job. The stuff was too thick for a utility blade, but I have a BK16 with nothing better to do than to work for a living. Handled it like a pro! It cut right down to the glued on Fi-lon material, inch and a half thick styro, 84 feet of cuts all told.

The Warrior The Warrior congratulations on the new job . I am hopeful my current job is my last.

I got out my solar stuff and batteries etc . I hooked up everything to see if what I have is workable before I spend out of pocket everything shown is either scrounged or I had laying around there is also a scrounged 1000 watt inverter not shown that was scrounged . This is no where near finished . But is actively charging the batteries off the sun

For sure Congrats on your new job :thumbsup:
Suck news on your tree :thumbsdown:
Hopefully, 0 damage to your house and the tree that fell is the one that drops all the shit balls :)

Tree dude just left. Took him a little over an hour total, and it was $1,000. I'm in the wrong line of work, haha. To top it all off, I was told today that we have an $1,100.00 deductible. Just great. Paid over $20,000 in premiums over the years, and we still had to pay for it. Sounds about right in Dubz world. Turns out, there is one small hole in the roof, and a few messed up shingles. Sucks, but it could have been way worse.

Tube of silicone should keep the water out until you get a roofer scheduled

I just live insurance companies.
Have to pay monthly.
Need a claim! Oh Lord! That’s gonna cost ya!

monthly payments is just the fee to keep them "on the line"...

YUP. If I were actually a motorcyclist, I would stick with a (modern) 650cc or up for the highway. The new (since 2012?) V-Strom 650's are kinda my style, but I don't ever want to own another bike that you have to dig inside of to service. :p

electrics are coming up fast. check out Super73 for a neat kind of "bike". Suron and Segway make a pretty trick electric dirt bike series, and with a few tweaks, apparently can be registered as road legal - good luck riding them on some trails as the rules on electric are sketchy state to state, region to region.

Got the first day under my belt. Wasn't too bad. Good exercise, hopefully it'll help me lose some weight and get back in shape.
Three days in, and I'm really starting to like my job. Makes a big difference when the boss comes in to see how you're doing, and tells you to pace yourself, and don't burn out, and tells you he appreciates your hard work. That, compared to getting texts after work hours telling you that you're not doing enough, yet when I had covid they had to hire three temps to do the job I did myself. Assholes. Only part I'm not crazy abot is the 68 mile round trip drive. Be different if gas were cheaper. But hey, I actually like my job now. I work with a good crew too. There's 5 of us in my area, and we all work the whole time we're there. Some good people to work with.

Mid nineties all week around here. But last night, while hanging out in the late evening, we saw lightning in the west.

Today, it started sprinkling, then came a bit of thunder. They both slowly built, until the crashes of fury and the deafening roar of the torrent sent the fearful to flight. One woman and her two dogs were struck and killed over in Pico Rivera.

By noon, everything dried up.
