Norfleet Restitution ?

I think a better idea for BF would be to set up a good system to get a thief like Norfleet banned from this site quickly and to post a highly visible warning not to deal with that person outside of BF- providing the real name, address, email, etc.
 
i started to say never pay up front for a custom, legit 'smiths wont ever ask ya to anyway, but if he is saying he has finished knives ready to ship (and doesnt) i guess thats not relevant.

sure sucks though, i hope ya guys get satisfaction of some sort, seems like there are way too many things like this going on in the knife world right now, wasnt too many yrs back stuff like this was rare, very rare, now its every week or so seems like.

sure hate to see it though.
 
I apologize to every whom I have affected. I was getting better but I didn't follow doctors orders and went to the shop to work because of all you great folks on the forums and I got sick again. They want me to go to a nursing home to recuperate but I won't go. I am working on everyone's knives and no matter how long it takes I will get everyone's knives done and no one will get taken. I will make all things right. I can't elaborate anymore as I just don't feel up to typing anymore, I got to get back to the shop.
 
Hey Gilbert, you should sell swampland in Arizona. Your excuses are lame, you told the world here that six knives were all done and would ship 10-13 and of course they did not. And I bet you cannot refund $1.00 because you spent every penny.

I was very very sick for three years but I was able to remain 100% honest. Even after my 54th surgery I still had my integrity and credibility intact. Using the "it's my health" excuse will never excuse you for lying, ever!!!

Its the same old same old with you. A little less talk and a lot more action is needed. Please stop attempting to garner additional sympathy with your tired old stories. Please post again when you have delivered all the knives you have committed to deliver.

Quick question, but I noticed that JRSKNIVES was banned shortly after making this, his only post.

The sentence structure sure seems similar to Mr. Norfleet's. No commas, use of "and" in run-on sentences, etc.

Was this actually confirmed (via IP address or whatever) to be Mr. Norfleet using an alias account?

There is nothing mentioned about JRSKNIVES in November's "walk the plank" thread....
 
This is a person that came to my shop by a refferal to help me finish my knives along with his brother. They were fooling around with the computer in the shop and I had no idea what they were doing. These are two young men of which I know little but was willing to let them try out. I am thankful that you caught them and banned them and please don't let them on here anymore. The computer is now locked up and they can't have acess to it anymore. I may have to ask them to go back home and I will just work alone as I always do, it is better that way.

Sorry about that, Tony. I got interrupted right after I banned them (dinnertime !!! :) ) but they are logged now: two dummy accounts of Norfleet's.

You may need help with your multiple personalities. It is not a condition known to work well with reality. Alone or with others, you don't seem to have been succeeding lately. Time to buckle down, watch your health, and get on with the knives. Enough talk. Just get the job(s) done.

You are well enough to engage in deception, why are you "too sick" to mail out the six knives you finished?

You cannot even come here as Norfleet to give an explanation. Instead, you created a cyber clone with a different name.

With all those friends around, and the brother of the friends you should have more than ample help to finish up the knives and DELIVER

it would be a step in the right direction to get those folks gear to them asap.
 
It appears that Mr. Norfleet is heading down the same path that other knifemakers who appear in the Hall of Shame did. Excuses, lies, and now fraud have tarnished his reputation. He still has an opportunity to make things right, but posting under pseudonyms and then making a half-cocked story to back it up certainly doesn't help his cause.
 
Back to the original intent of this thread. I'd have to say that though well intentioned, I don't see why we should have to buy this "insurance" for future knife purchases. 99% of the guys that sell knives here are good honest folk and work hard to make sure you get your knife as described and in a timely fashion but stuff do happen sometimes that can stall a purchase, that's the price we pay as knife buyers here on the BF's. As to Mr Norfleet's business practices, Gil, you really need to get yourself some help on the business end of this, your knifemaking skills speak for themselves. You need to deliver those knives and put everything else on the back burner. You've got a reputation at stake here and by continuing on in this manner, it will only go downhill. Stand and deliver brother, the balls in your court.
 
How about under his name, where it reads "knifemaker", The mods could change it to read "scam artist! -buy at your own risk". Or something along those lines to stop new users from falling for his scams.

Or make a new rule in the sticky to include "no stealing". And permanently ban him for his dozens of offenses. Some people waiting for knives would lose money but more money would be saved in the long run. Plus this guy is making your great website look bad; and making it harder for legit makers to gain trust.
 
I was so close to picking up one of his knives, but the stuff started with late deliveries etc. so I thought I would wait to see how everything shook out. Glad I waited. He may make a great looking knife but basically and this is just my feeling here,he is using his disability as a crutch to not complete delivery of said knives.

Pitching in while that sounds noble just rewards the bad behavior shown by the maker. Besides no way am I going to pay for someone else's screw up. I guess I want to know exactly how many folks rec. the knives that they ordered from him in the first place? Personally after reading what is going on with him and knives showing up for sale that aren't anybody's with the excuse that they were started before orders were taken well that just doesn't seem right to me. Just my 2 cents. keepem sharp
