Northwoods Bear Lake

What does the post-it on the blue container say?

Well the last main page photo update on the GEC site was back on November 30th, so I guess they can't give us a look at what they are working on right now.

Way too many posts for something that we dont even know exists yet:-) he could have anything in his hands

And Derek is just laughing in the corner saying "Dance, puppets! Dance!"

You're right! Just not me :D

I'm curious to see what it is, but can't get overly excited over something that may or may not be a good looking knife. So, I'm probably not buying it either.

Internet forums are to talk about the topic of the forum. Bladeforums has hundreds of threads about upcoming knives. There's no marketing here - I started this thread. Derrick didn't start this thread. GEC made Northwoods products doesn't need any marketing. I don't understand why people keep bringing up the "marketing" aspect of this thread.

Some asked questions about why would we be excited about the upcoming Northwoods knife? Some people collect Northwoods - some people collect all GEC products. I'm just as excited about the 13 senator coming out, I'm just excited about the charred beer scout, I'm just as excited about Charlies TC peach seed bone clip. These are all products coming out this month and the forum is for us to talk about knives, not to call us "puppets".

In the words of Rabbit;

"Well, well, I shall go and fetch Christopher Robin."

Looking at the ends of the knife that are visible in the picture above, it may be an entirely new design done in natural micarta.
The protuberance from the upper left corner of the knife is either something on the shelf behind Derek or the knife's radio antenna. That 's it!!! It's a new Radio Knife!!! or a remote control Coffin Jack!!! ;) Definitely something unique to Northwoods knives. Come on Derek spill the beans...

I think it's bluetooth or NFC. Much less power requirements than WiFi. ;)

I don't think they are referring to this thread as a marketing tool, but instead the way Derrick doesn't disclose details (or doles out small pieces of info to those that follow him). I think you already knew that though.

Not arguing with you or attempting to pick a fight but Derrick has posted in this thread and named the knife "Steve" with very little information and has managed to create a "mystery" even though you started the thread. I own several Northwoods and like them a lot and have purchased my share of knives from KSF but this is a great job of marketing by Derrick no matter how you look at it. Good for him as he has created quite a buzz about a knife called Steve, especially on BladeForums. I have no problem with it and I hope it works out well for him.

The problem with digital communication is that the tone of a comment can be hard to convey.

It was meant in jest. Derrick clearly likes to toy with the mystery aspect of product launches and hype up releases, which he absolutely should- it makes him good at his job. Obviously he wants to keep this a mystery, and here we are with 9 pages of comments about something that we've received no information on outside of the production schedule where we first met "Steve".

I keep checking back because I'm excited too, so I'm poking fun of myself as well. I didn't mean to ruffle any feathers!

I enjoy reading everyone's comments - even the ones I disagree with because as a general rule of thumb, we all share the same interest in knives and I like to think if I were to run into anyone in the real world we would enjoy our conversation. After saying that, I personally don't think he has anything to market here. Most of the Northwoods releases sell out within 5 minutes. In my opinion, the Northwoods sell out because it's a GEC made product with better cover options. He's not on Bladeforums very much. Seems like he mostly posts on Facebook and Instagram. So, before all these posts get deleted. I just wanted to say I hope my last few posts didn't come off too grumpy to anyone and I value everyone's opinion here.

Agreed, he doesn't use this forum for that reason, I was mainly talking about KSF's social media accounts.

I also agree with you that the product is what sells the product as far as Northwoods goes. I found that it's a product that appeals to traditional and non traditional fans alike.

I got a few chuckles from the commentary on the photo. Much more fun than seeing a catalog with everything that will be available for the year and then just talking about patina for the rest of the year. ;) The steady trickle of knives from GEC and Northwoods can be fun ride for collectors. When they hit the virtual shelves then it becomes serious business... for around 30 seconds to a minute when they sold out. ;)

What does the post-it on the blue container say?

I'm pretty sure that's the key to the whole thing. :D

Relax people, it's a knife and he is holding out info to add a little excitement.

If not just a background object, maybe the tab is similar to the tang on a Svord Peasant knife.

That is basically what this thread has evolved into.
What does the shipping label on the box on the ground say?

Every small thing is nothing and everything at the same time...
It is all aimless speculation since nothing concrete has been offered.
A shotgun firing bird shot at a target 200 yards out...

I have the opposite view! Each to their own...
