Northwoods Michigan Jack

In for Bloodwood... and waiting to see if more Denim Micarta make it out into the wild.

Only planning on two of these. Actually, I wasn't planning on any more knives this year. However, the 77 is a great frame size for me and I couldn't pass these up entirely.

All the SFOs on this frame are totally killing my end of year budget. GEC needs to slow down a little so I can save-up some more cash.

I put in an order for a bloodwood, however I REALLY wanted a denim micarta. Did they only have 10 of them or something? Hoping more are added later.

The Mammoth does not look to be all that 'exciting', but maybe that changes once they are buffed. I think top quality Mammoth has become too expensive for production knives. "Quality" being how they look which is subjective. I don't like Mammoth that has all browns, but someone else might. Long time since i've seen Mammoth with red or blue or green. Early on in using Mammoth for knife handles some of the best Mammoth i have seen was used.
Maybe GEC could splurge and obtain some well colored Mammoth and apply the extra cost into the knife price ?
Or, has all of the brightly colored Mammoth been used up and no more has been found ?
This is not a complaint. I hope to get a Michigan Mammoth !

Mammoth has been incredibly difficult to get your hands on. I had to work very hard to get these. I had to spend a ton of money just to get good stuff. I am hoping this grouping is better than you think. :)

Well, i am hoping i manage to buy any one of the Mammoth Michigan Jacks. As we all know you have to get to KSF within minutes of the knives being posted or they are gone. I don't have a smart phone or any mobile device. They don't work well in the mountainous area where i live. So i need to be at my desk on my computer when the email saying "new knives posted !" comes in.
Whether i get one or not, thank you Derrick for buying the best Mammoth you could find.

What is the blade length on these?

3.625 inches.

I just slid under the wire on a Bloodwood. Looking forward to getting this and trying it out. The little longer length compared to the Broadway Jack (which is so West Coast) should be interesting. And the Bloodwood just looks exotic. Until I get it, I'll hone my skills on the Broadway.

3.625 = 3 5/8" is the closed length of the knife, not the blade. The blade should be just under 3" like maybe 2 7/8". I don't have a Michigan so i am guessing but actual blade length will be very close to my guess.

I soooooo want to buy one, but I don't have the funds. The black and denim look great. i love the feel of smooth bone in hand, and a knife that's pinchable. The stag look great, I'm curious to see the quality of the stag for it's price. Maybe there'll be some users down the road at a fair price. Trying my hardest to be responsible and not pull out the credit cad.

Man i was close: 2 7/8" = 2.875"

Very nice score MCar. You have good taste. I like the camel bone when it's dark and yet still has smokey aspects to it and not solid color.

I wish I had scored that green one! It was actually long---pull that got it. But, you and I share preferences, BearBug. I'm just the same--I like vibrant color that isn't solid. But I have to say, I also like the other extreme. Getting one that is basically "white bone," but with juuuuust enough little smokey color to make it interesting is nice, too.
