Not Impressed...

I agree they are better than some. And they are good if you want to take a closer look at a knife, but he thinks he knows more than he does. just saying.
oh, and unit, stfu. just because i dont make better vids means i cant talk about somebody elses? You probebly comment about knives and their pros and cons all the time (like everybody here) , does that mean you make better knives than any of them?

Like others have said,,,,take it w/a grain of salt. What I do like about them, it gives me a virtual test drive if I am in the market for a particular blade. I do like some of his videos.

I like him most of the time, take his opinions at face value. He does introduce me to new stuff, but then I am from Europe, where pretty soon laws will be introduced forcing us all to eat with plastic forks.
I like that he tries out most stuff he reviews, so at least he speaks from personal experience. He's also a decent shot, which gives him credit.

In Holland, there's very little if any community. So basically I can try to discover and figure stuff out myself, or I can add the input of reviewers like nutnfancy to what little info I have.
I choose the latter.

Having never made or posted a video, I have to say that his videos are far better than mine.

I find that he takes 10 minutes to say 3 minutes worth of information, but he's not alone in that. Most youtube videos suffer from the same problem.

I do wonder how all of those video guys can have that much free time on their hands to make that many videos.

i like his videos, recently some of them have been extremely long but if there is a video on a knife that i like i wont get bored. it boils down to if you like them you like them, if you dont you dont. if you like them keep watching, if you dot like them then just dont watch.

i dont like how he expects us to sit through him thumbing through his new knife catalog for 10-15 min before even seeing the knife that is supposed to be featured in the video. way too much fluff in the videos, i prefer video reviews that are short and to the point.

I appreciate that he puts effort into what he does, and tries to be pretty comprehensive as to the list of items he reviews.

BUT.....

The first and only knife review video of his I watched in entirety, was 10 minutes long, and not once did he hold the knife in a using grip. The only reason I watched the video was to see the knife in hand and decide whether it would be a 3 or 4 finger grip knife for me. I never gave his videos another chance after that. Ergonomics are one of the most basic points to cover in a knife review IMO.

I find his (and other 'Youtube reviewers') videos are a great way to get a look at a knife, see how it fits in the hand, get a good idea of the scale, thickness, etc. (things you can't really tell from the specs or photos alone). Sometimes, seeing them in action helps, too. Generally speaking, I like watching 'review videos', and I always watch a few 'reviews' if I can find them before I purchase a knife.

Having said that, I generally put those videos on 'Mute' and crank some Flogging Molly in the background :D. Hearing someone blather on about "extreme tactical self defense, heaven forbid" this, "bankvault lockup" that and a bunch of "functional jimping" nonsense gets REALLY BORING, REALLY FAST! :p.

One reviewer (who I believe is a member on here, too) who's vids I actually listen to goes by the name MrDagon007 - he seems to sidestep all of the tactical and political mumbo-jumbo and just present the knives in question. All too many Youtube reviewers (nutnfancy included) put a bunch of political garbage in their videos, too ("Sheepdog gun rights CCW permit, Obama's tryin' ta take away mah guns!" :barf:), which is another great reason to mute their vids :D.

In short, I don't necessarily agree with what Youtube reviewers have to say, but just seeing the blades in action/in the hand is a great resource!

It would be nice if he enriched his vocabulary and stopped using the same words ,(terms) over and over...

I like the reviews from BLUNTRUTH4U. He tells you about the good and crap and actually cuts stuff in his videos.

I like just about every you tube knife review. LOL When the reviewer is annoying I look for another review and if I cant find one I just turn the volume down.

It was around the time of the spice girls when I learned to ignore sounds and noises and just pay attention to what I was looking at.:D

When I am interested in a knife, you tube is a place to watch a video that can show all possible views of a knife and even show how it opens and closes. A catalog does not do that for me.

-I say, its better than nothing.

I used to watch his videos when they were 8 or 9 minutes of reviews. Now they are just too long and full of too much stuff that is not abot what is in the title of the video.

Dude! I love flogging molly. lol

You continue to demonstrate a lot about yourself.

I find it very ironic that you do not like a guys reviews, but if someone like me comments about your review of his review...they should stfu.

priceless!

ive watched his stuff, dont really have an opinion on them. i watch youtube videos when im in the market for a blade and want to see different angles or shots "in the hand". sometimes you just cant tell much from dealers still shots.

Agreed. I usually hit the mute button and click around his videos to see what the knives look like in hand, open and closed (if they're folders). I don't watch his videos for a performance evaluation. I think his videos can be to long, but his videos are a whole lot better than most stuff posted on Youtube. If nothing else they're at least in focus and high enough resolution to see the product.

I used to watch those reviews when they were shorter.
it seems that every video he does nowadays is at least 25 minutes long.
I don't have time for this.
