What does it say in the second post there????

“If you send someone money for a purchase or you send them goods as a trade, they owe you the goods you agreed to in return. Period.”

I rest my case.

That thread is a suggestion thread and not the actual rules of the site. Also, the post you quoted is an opinion of a super mod about possible situations, not yours specifically.

Here are the rules.

Yawn...took a screwin, got threatened with infractions/banning etc by a mod, then have y’all taking sides with em. Not ONE bad experience. Multiple. Take ‘are.

:rolleyes::poop::p

Unfortunately your attitude says it all. I get that your pissed but unfortunately even if you do sleep this off ...... you’ve already made the ignore list of quite a few. Take care :D

The seller refunded you right away, so the hold up on the pending status is most likely because of an issue with PP. this is not a situation whereas the seller waited an unreasonable amount of time to refund you from his end, so what you have cited above does not really hold.

The fact that you issued 2 sets of identical payment amounts to the same seller and both were rgudd will most likely raise an extra red flag with PP. did yo pay by using a debit card, credit card, cash in your PP or funds from bank account?. The pay,etc method can also possibly delay the refund.

Interestingly enough, there is another active thread here on GBU, that also involves a paypal address discrepancy, and the resulting issues.
I will definitely be confirming my paypal address profile, from time to time, since this may be a common issue.
Changing your address, after the deal started, may have spooked the seller. There is so much fraud these days, that everyone is on high alert. It looks like you’ve been here about four months; perhaps that wasn’t enough history to give the seller the extra confidence.

Let me walk through this, you sent the wrong address with your payment, so he refunded it, you expected him to accept screenshots as evidence which he declined to do and after the ensuing argument he declined to do business with you and refunded all your money, at which point you broke forum rules and, in response to advice that you asked for, are gonna take your ball and go home.

Frankly, you sound exceptionally entitled. Welcome to my ignore list.

Just want some input from some veterans of the knife buying/selling/trading world.
I would have just waited on the PayPal refunds to go through and not worried about it. It wasn't even an overall bad interaction. You were getting your money back.

Excerpt from the Exchange Forum rules regarding feedback: https://www.bladeforums.com/help/exchange-rules/ . See items 4, 5, and 6. That is why a mod warned you. The boldfacing is from the original source. I shrank 1, 2, and 3 because they are not germane to this question.

If you don't like the feedback rules, and that is a deal-breaker for you, then perhaps you should not use this forum for your buying and selling.

SECTION 4 - Rules for Feedback -
  1. All feedback on sales or trades must be kept to the Feedback Forum and/or iTrader. Do not clutter up a sales thread with it.
  2. It is not mandatory to leave feedback, but it is highly recommended. It serves an important purpose sharing your good and bad experiences with the community. If you need help ask us, we can help. There is only so much we can do, we are not able to help with deals that occurred on Facebook, Instagram, eBay or other places.
  3. We will not edit feedback for you unless it's an obvious error (ie negative rating). You can report it using the black triangle button on the iTrader page and be patient.
  4. Retaliatory negative feedback ratings can earn you an infraction. Getting pissed off because a deal didn't go though is no reason to try and ruin someones rep. You are expected to conduct yourself in a mature and responsible manner, failure to do so will result in warnings or infractions as necessary.
  5. If a deal did not happen, there is no iTrader Feedback to leave. Sorry if you were inconvenienced, but life is full of disappointments. As long as you're not out any items or money hasn't changed hands, move along. Consider improving the terms of your sales threads / read the sellers terms carefully in order to avoid this before buying.
  6. Retaliatory feedback left by buyers or sellers on deals that didn't take place can now earn you a 30 point non expiring infraction. You earn them, you get to keep them, you have been warned.

I don't know what the seller had on his mind, but as someone that is fairly versed at protecting themselves in transactions - let me venture a guess. Paypal has seller protections that are fairly exhaustive - as long as you send to the address that was supplied in the payment. You can discuss on the side all you want, but in the end if there is some type of loss - if the seller didn't ship to the address in the transaction their protections may be in jeopardy. This may be the reason for his initial refund - the rest I see no sense in speculating.

I get it guys, I’m the new guy so the veteran who’s been around the block awhile gets to do whatever he wants to the new guy and it’s all good. But I guarantee had he done to any of you what he did to me it’d be a different story altogether. Take care, conversation over on my part. Learning experience for sure but has seriously damaged my confidence in this site. Just gonna sell off most of my knives from here on out, never buy again and move on to something else. Several members have told me in PMs this site has gone downhill over the years and now I see what they were talking about.

Not to be rude OP but, after looking at your profile and posts.
You have never really taken part in BF other than Knife Exchange and this thread.
It's unfortunate that you make your judgement of BF based on some rumored PM's.
As a "new guy" who only took part in buying/selling is reason enough for a "veteran seller" to raise a red flag. Add to that the shipping address error , and a "screenshot" correction.
Four months in and your going to "sell off your knives and move on"
Might be best for all

The seller did his part and refunded you the money immediately, on both transactions that you sent. Paypal holding your funds has nothing to do with the seller. No reason to get your panties in a wad. Your funds will be released back to you soon. Seller can sell to whoever they want. If I was the seller, I'd probably refund payment too after an address discrepancy. I know it sucks, but it's the price of doing business sometimes.

OP - Can you clarify something: Precisely how was the decision made to send the second payment? Was it made in consultation with the seller, or did you do it unilaterally?

As for the not being able to leave Itrader feedback-It is the way it is done here for you and everyone else. Since your money was refunded and no knife was sent that is not considered a deal. An agreement and a deal are not equal under Itrader. However this is also a feedback area and you can use it as you have. Itrader is a positive biased feedback system that came with the software, but the members like it because it is easy. GBU is actually the Blade forum feedback area, and is much better for negative feedback IMO-since you need to explain it, rather then just throw negative Itrader feedback and run.
Live with it

The OP's tantrum shows he obviously didn't read the exchange rules beforehand. They state clearly that you can't leave negative feedback for deals that fall through, I wish you could.

I personally wouldn't ship to a PO box with a good explanation of why. Sure, there are plenty of legitimate uses for them, but they also appeal greatly to people who want some semblance of anonymity and/or concealing their location. For every legitimate user of a PO box I feel like there are just as many shady ones, trust me I know a couple!
