Paypal refunds take time to go through because they wait for the actual money to arrive with them as opposed to when you buy they pay immediately and then claim the money from your bank.
If you have paypal funds in your account the refund is immediate

Let's see if I have this right.
You jumped into a new hobby to the tune of $6000. A transaction fell through. After a number of posters here disagreed with you as to the extent to which you were inconvenienced, you are no longer interested in the hobby. Okay.

It's a $6000 "investment" ;)

A little history on me, up until last year I knew little of the knife world other than watching forged in fire once in a while. Last year I joined this site and now have about $6000 invested in knives.

I hope he doesn't expect a 10% return on his money, after all, he can't afford to have $550 held for 3-5 days with no return on his principal.

Well. all I can say is that if the OPs attitude in this thread is any indication how he approached the mystery seller; I would have backed out too. Changing addresses to PO box and arguing before sale is made - warning, warning, warning. Sounds like trouble coming down the tracks. Someone else to add to my ignore list.

Literally a loony bin. I AM the bad guy for being pissed off about having my money held up for who knows how long with nothing to show for it! Lol what a joke. Ok I’m outta here. I won’t reply again.

The situation didn't go perfectly yet you're not the bad guy and have a right to be a little pissed.

However, we only have one side of this story to go on and the side we have is accusatory, angry (with reason) and defensive. That does not bode well in trying to paint a clear and accurate picture of the situation.

Have you let the other guy know about this thread? It'd be helpful to get his perspective if they chose to share.

Also, posting your correspondence may shed some light on why he refused to do business with you and if there was any merit to it from his perspective. You can edit out the personal info.

Let me take $550 out of your checking account for several days with nothing in return and see if you change your tune about it.

You did get something in return. Your money back. If the seller was really trying to be difficult because you angered him, he could have held your money for several days before refunding it. But he didn't. He refunded it immediately. It's not like your money is floating around out there in outer space. It is in process headed right back to your account. By the time this thread closes, you will probably already have your money back. I understand you are upset, but you're going to have a brain aneurysm if you don't calm down. And before you say "If it was you.....",. I just had a seller back out on a 1900.00 compound bow because of shipping logistics, and it took PayPal a whole three days to get my money back to me. I was put off, but not enough to rage on my keyboard and melt down on an internet forum. Just calm down man. It will be ok.

Let’s see all of this. Emails, PMs, everything. Including the user name of the Seller as he should have an opportunity to give his side of the story.
