those are cute and different .

Now a warning to the folks . Using the PP gift/cash option , you forfeit all buyer protection .

I have no problem with doing plus 3% if you don't trust me... this isn't my first rodeo though if that is what you were insinuating... I've been a member on here since 2005 under the user name photorob..I'm going to be nice and leave it at that..

can you make me a blue one (similar to the red one)? - email on the way.

as for Oneil's comment, He is referring to a possible instance in which a seller screws you over. if you send money as a gift you can't complain to paypal. If you never get your item you will never get your money back. The money is sent as a gift and will be treated as such by paypal.

Chill guys,he understands and doesnt want a fuss as he posted,as for jack , he is layed back and means no trouble o0r harm to anyone,he just plays his cards straight,as most do! No biggy

regardless of Oneill's reference or intentions, it seems completely unnecessary to heed the warning. Unless there is a Blade Forums Exchange policy forbidding sellers from creating their own PayPal terms, I really don't see any need to drop the reference into potential buyers minds.

this is exactly my point. He is referring to a "possible instance", that has not taken place nor do any of us have reason to beleive it will take place. Again if Bladeforums has some issue with a sellers terms, by all means policy rules. Even in that case, I would expect a moderator or admin to step in, likely privately for a first offense.

Although i truly beleive there was no malintent in the original "warning" post, I do find it offensive to drop in a sales thread, both personally and generally speaking. I've known Rob personally for 10 years and although his honor, personality and professionalism are not in question, i will still volunteer the guarantee that this is one seller and knife maker who will NEVER screw you over.

The last time I used PayPal's gift option, they added 3%, so why not just do regular PP and add 3%?
:D

maybe payment came from a credit card as opposed to a bank account? That's all i can think of. I've never had one issue getting hit with fee's when sending or receiving PP "gift" methods.

Gentlemen, these posts were removed from titanium dagger neck knives, where they violated Bladeforums rules by interfering with a sales thread, a violation for which we have been assessing a 5 point, 2 month infraction.

Do not return to the original thread to interfere further.

I don't like it when a Vendor or Knife Maker asks for a payment via the Gift Option which to me is an unethical.

If a buyer agrees to the terms, and goes in with his eyes wide open, may not be a smart move, but can't be considered unethical by the seller.

There is a fine maker that has a disclaimer that once the knife is at the P.O. his responsibilty ends. His terms, plainly stated, but I would not feel confortable with the terms. Everyone has a choice.

Fair enough. This is seemingly an appropriate place to state your opinion on it. My point is that dropping your opinion, or worse a "warning" in someone else's sales thread is inappropriate.

I won't deal with anyone who:
  1. Asks that I use the gift option. It's dishonest and too many deals go bad that way.
  2. Lists a x% added to use paypal. Include it in the original price if you're that worried about it.
  3. Won't ship insured. That's just stupid, too many deals go bad that way. Insurance is really protection fo the seller, they will more than likely be expected to refund the money either way, a quick seach of these forums will prove that.
  4. Doesn't take responsibility for their own actions. It is the SELLERS responsibility to get the item to the buyer or to refund the money if something goes wrong.

There's more but it's not relavent to this discussion.

It is relevant to this discussion. It's also repetitive, but that's OK, too. It's a whole series of points that are always relevant.

Whether we are here for business or pleasure, there are right and wrong ways to go about buying, selling, trading, paying, shipping, and respecting each other. We have serious threads about this, some of which are stickies in this forum. It's always worth bringing up again.

If nothing else, it's good to warn the new members of what could go wrong and how to avoid it.
