nuntfancy.....

I'm still learning a lot right now and before I came here I found nutnfancy and took quite a bit from the videos. As far as I can tell he's honest about the products he reviews and I still find his stuff informative. I agree that they are a bit long winded but I think that's more a result of not editing them. He could improve the videos so much if he invested in cheap editing software and cut them down a bit.

I've seem some of the nuntfancy videos and find them reasonable.

If you don't like the vids, you of course can make your own. I'll watch'em.

iAMboognish, nutnfancy, cutlerylover, customtacticals, coletrane811, wwwknivestowncom, SharpSpears, Andrelommech, and lsutigers1010 all have some great reviews.
But I've really been liking macjmillsx's I'm pretty sure hes on here somewhere, if you see this then thanks for the great videos man.

I liked bungwrench's vids also but his account is closed now...

I've found the excessive talking problem to be pervasive in many videos on You Tube. I watched one of this guy's and thought he could be less wordy. I guess that's not really a surprise. You Tube has given your average guy a chance to be a You Tube celebrity. There was a funny South Park episode about that concept involving Butters song "I say what, what, in the butt."

SharpSpears is IMO the best on youtube, he knows what he is talking about and is a friend of mine on zee internetz.

Lsu is pretty good, although most of his reviews are on lower end knives.
He puts a hell of an edge on a knife, not bad for someone thats 13.

Coletrane has great reviews also, I like his tastes.

I like his vids but he doesn't really know a ton about knives. He does know about using them though, but just not a lot of details about knives.

I have yet to make it through one of nutfancy's videos. I have to throw my lot in with Vivi on this one. The guy doesn't really speak to what interests me. Also I do distinctly remember his incessant opening and closing during a review really got on my nerves. I am not sure that he does that in all of his videos though.

Not a fan. I like cutlerylover's videos more.

I also like coletrane, lsu tigers, and there is an itailian man (forgot his user) who does alot reviews on knives, over 200 videos I belive. Can't understand a word he says though.

I only saw one of his videos. What I love is the obsessive attention to detail. It can't be that easy making a 10 minute video about a folder. Most people would be thinking that after you rattle off 4 or 5 specs such as the blade steel, size, lock-type, etc. that there is little more to say. But in fact there is so much more, and this guy spares nothing. I actually love that.

I don't like the term 'tactical' either, at least the common misuse of it. A 'tactic' is 'planned action' so tactics lie in the brain, not in the folder. But the misuse is so common that I can somewhat forgive it.

He's definitely "different" in some ways, but he's way into his knives which is cool. I like cutlerylover and some others too. You should be happy that there are so many knife reviews on youtube. I'm a flashlight guy and I can tell you that the selection of video reviews is pretty lame for lights.

He can be pretty funny (intentionally) and I like his vids - I wouldn't watch them otherwise.
Doesn't mean I agree with everything he says. I wouldn't use a knife with an upper guard as my favorite survival knife for example. But I guess we're all different in some way, so live and let live.

OK - tactical does not mean 'combat' or self-defense - if that concept offends you then delete 'tactical' and substitute 'utility' or 'general purpose' knife = a knife that's likely to be useful for a diverse range of tasks as they arise. That's what tactical means. This is to distinguish them from knives that were designed for a specific job: filleting; boning; caping; skinning; woodcarving; letter opening.....

If you were preparing a banquet you would select a range of knives that were suitable for the planned tasks - call these 'strategic' knives if you want. A tactical knife is the 'one knife does all' blade you use because it would be impracticable to have the full range on your person. A good tactical knife should be able to attend to a whole range of tasks reasonably well but not necessarily excel at one particular duty. You can use a tactical to cut up your sushi roll but a sushi knife is designed for the job and in theory would be better at it. Nutnfancy estolling the virtues of a sushi knife wouldn't be of as much general interest to the sort of people that watch his posts on uTube.

IMO he does a reasonable job and is informative on knives I am curious about but haven't encountered personally

TIME OUT

Do you watch Youtube for entertainment (Boredom or whatnot)??....Or....Do you watch for information on a product?

He isn't a paid salesman trying to sell a product so don't bash him for that...

Since you cant read sorry I originally stated this not to be a bashing thread. hopefully you just didnt read all the way through my statement, it was long.
