nuntfancy.....

This being said I do still watch his videos and he is sometimes quite knowledgeable about some things. I agree youtube vids are a cure for bordness for me though. I like everyones videos but I cant stand all this tacticool hype. It obscures a knives real purpose, as a tool, not a weapon and I think that sometimes we knife lovers create our own problems with society by deeming certain knives as weapons. when sheeple run across his vids and hes saying this is a great killing self defense tactical folder then it imposes bad thoughts. My father hates knives because he sees them as weapons, he overheard one of nutnfancys vids talking about this knife would be great for "X" type of weapon he scoffed. over and out rant off.

I was just posting a general question not directed at you personally. I think most of us watch Youtube for entertainment..at least thats my reason for watching. I have watched a bunch of his videos because I was at work and had plenty of time where I had nothing to do. It was much better than twittling my thumbs...:D

Say what you want about him, but I think he gives very honest and non-bias reviews of things that I am interested in. Is anyone else doing a better job? I'd like to know who?

I like his videos but
- He may have a bit of ADHD, he seems to have trouble staying on track. Some Ritalin would fix that.
- talks too much some times. The Ritalin may also help that.

Also rember that your personal history shapes your perspective. He may have spent a lot of time in the military learning about weapons and how to use them. If he spent the last 20 years on a fishing boat he would have a very different perspective. Because of his back ground Nutnfancy views knives as weapons, whereas I view them as cutting tools. I am ok with that. I still learn things from his videos and get to see knives I am interested in buying. If I do not like a video I just click on a new one, there is so much out there to choose from.

Finally, his gun videos are more organized. He goes thru a check list which includes items like fire power, reliability, accuracy, cost ...

i like his vids...he's a little bit critical, but he's not that bad...the worst knife review i ever saw was a UT8 video...every sentence the guy says about it has something factually wrong

I kinda like him, and Kinda don't

I don't like him because a lot of the time, he doesn't know what he's talking about. However, some of his vids I've watched he actually professes that he doesn't know a lot about technical stuff on knives (blade steels, handle materials, where it's made etc..)

I do like him because his lack of knowledge makes him a credible "every day" kind of knife user who gets a knife that works for him. I don't like listening to reviews from guys who think they actually invented the thing they are reviewing.

I think his videos are good for getting a perspective on the size of guns, knives, or bags. It's a great visual reference. I think his whole "philosophy" thing is utter crap. Oh and he's such an obvious Glock fanboy that it's hard to take any of his gun reviews and critiques seriously. Yes Glocks are good guns and the public is aware of this, please back away from the black plastic flavored Kool-Aid. Overall I think the vids are just OK, although it does look like he puts some time and effort into the videos which I give him credit for.

Seriously, He should fire the guy who produces his vids. And get rid of the director as well. I for the most part enjoy his stuff. He is a guy who has passion for knives that is obvious. Being military or ex military is obvious as well. That point of view doesn't bother me either. When someone is handling a ZT0300 or Emerson I expect to hear the term Tactical quite often. What kind of knife is it a "tactical knife" anyway he is one I check with before making purchases if I can't handle them before getting them

In general I like nutnfancy's knife videos. One thing I think he emphasizes too much is the weight of a knive.

I say if you don't like his videos, then don't watch them

My hat's off to Nutnfancy for providing a service to fellow knife/gun owners and survival enthusiasts

Remember everyone has a point of view, and his is from the military/LEO standpoint

I enjoy his videos, and have learned a thing a two from the guy

Keep up the good work Nut:thumbup:

I agree 100% with 5.56

Gotta admit I enjoy nutnfancy's videos. The reviews I have seen have been pretty good at covering it from an EDC standpoint. I do wish that he would grip the knife and talk about ergonomics more since that is one of the most important things to me. I love knives and I love watching videos of knives I'm thinking about getting and nutnfancy sates that area pretty well.

This is not a bashing thread. But....does anyone else think that his use of "tactical" knives in every one of his videos is a little much? I like "tactical" knives because they have good blade steel and comfortable, stable and grippy G10 handles, not becuase I am thinking about having to use them in a tactical scenario. It annoys me to the brink of almost ignoring his videos just because of his tactical bull. Oh well vent over I just wanted to ask if anyone else thinks he uses the term "tactical" like some girls use the word "like" every other word.:jerkit:

his videos (and his voice) are annoying. I much prefer cutlerylover, who seems to focus on being a knife nerd and using knives for EDC'ing purposes.

I also agree with 5.56, if it becomes so much of a problem for me then I have no problem not watcing them, but that being said, I still watch his videos and I am still glad that there are people out there that review these things in videos. If it werent for videos I wouldnt have a fifth of my knives because I need to see the knife in hand before I buy and if I cant hold one seeing them gives a certain perspective that pictures cannot.

I have watched some of his videos and am less than impressed. He seems to use them to show of what he owns while repeating himself over and over. His information is often incomplete and occasionally erroneous. If you are going to place yourself in the position of giving advice, especially when it concerns using deadly force, you should be 100% correct in the information you are giving out. If you are not sure you are correct then you shouldn't make any statements at all. Most of what I have watched are his firearms instructional videos, haven't watched many of the edged weapon vids so I am unsure how complete the info in the knife videos is.

Now in tests where he shows how well a knife can cut, or abuse it can take, those are fine and good as long as he demos the knife and doesn't just talk about it. Granted I would never abuse a knife the way so many of the videos do, I like my knives and do my best to avoid damaging them but it is interesting to see what some of them will take.

I also agree with Vivi. Sometimes he will talk for like 3 minutes about a knife and not open it and I'm like "dude at least open the thing".
+1 on that. I only watch his videos when there's no other good vid available on a certain knife. The vids I really didn't like were his two Tom Brown WSK ones. He based them just on his experience, the movie and some specs from the net...never handled the knife himself.

I often enjoy Nutnfancy's videos. Basically it's a great way to kill time and get some info on knives/guns/ect.

Do I agree with everything he says? Of course not. But it is his opinion and he can make it. I am not the one spending my time and energy making the videos so I really do not have much ground for complaint. I think people from "blade communities" are probably not his target audience anyways.

So rock on, Nutn.

The part about the movie was quite funny IMO, but I agree about the knife. He didn't handle it, and I think he didn't understand how the knife is meant to be used. AFAIK the straight edge close to the grip is NOT for chopping - there is a reason why it's form is similar to a hatchet... But he also said good things about the knife and he explained why he doesn't like it. Nothing wrong about that IMO.
