nuntfancy.....

Yeah, I dont know what to think of'em....

I had a, personal dispute with him a little while ago. He had a video of chopping with a Fiskars. He had wrong handling and technique of the axe, and I stated that. I dont think he knew I was trying to criticize in a positive way and he had a blow out at me. Thats ok though, I wasn't the only one complaining, look it up I recommend you do.

So, in short I dont like him personally, but that doesnt change he knows about knives and what not, just wish he was a little more open to advise.

I dig nutnfancy and cutlerylover. Also, Coletrane811, and the always controversial Noss4. I've also been watching a guy named "wishbone1138". He is not all knives, but he is a real sharp (pardon the pun), articulate person that I enjoy watching.

Also have to add that they are MUCH better than the guy who handles his production knives with rubber gloves on..... breathing real heavy!

Ok so when I read this I just busted out laughing:D. When I saw those vids on youtube I couldnt help getting a little freaked out. Handling knives with golves... Isnt that kind of dorky?

Generally speaking, I like his videos. Yeah, he talks a bit too much about his philosophy and not enough about the knives, but hey, it´s his videos, so why not.

The one thing I don´t like about him is his voice. I find it a touch grating and annoying. He can´t help it of course, but it makes his videos less enjoyable then the more soft-spoken Cutlerylover.

Still, hats off to both of them.

I appreciate anyone who takes the time to make and post a video on knives and gear. It gives us a chance to see the knife in the hand and hear a little about it, and possibly save us a trip to a knife shop or buying on the blind. I enjoyed nutnfancy's video on the Kelty Redwing pack as well as some of his knife video's. The other guys like cutlerylover, archieblue, coltrane, Noss etc. are good too. If you think it's easy to do one, try it some time. Not many of us are accustomed to speaking into a camera or mic, and trying to be smooth and eloquent. There are going to be some "um's" and awkward moments, but the bottom line is their reviews serve it's purpose, which is a chance to see the knife in hand and learn a little more about it that we may not have known before. A big thanks to all of them.

I agree completely.
I filmed a video for YouTube, and damn its hard.
I couldn't even get past three minutes without not knowing what to talk about. How people get videos that are twenty minutes long, is beyond me.

+1

I think nutnfancy is pretty articulate at times. He's clearly well educated and has a very good vocabulary.

I just can't stand the way nutnfancy talks. He articulates with overkill. and he just blabs and blabs about endless shyte and doesn't just get to the damn point. he drives me nuts! But he does a bunch of knives and I bite my lip through his incredibly annoying method of speech he clearly gets from his mother and he does do good demonstrations sometimes. And he actually seems like he's safety conscious and makes some good points and effort there. I'm sure he's a nice guy and he's clearly passionate about what he's doing. But I sure wish he were more concise and didn't talk the way he did. a bit over zealous.

His descriptions of some knives seem a little unrealistic sometimes, but as with anything, you have to get to know the expectations of the reviewer before you get useful information from the review. Try to find things that both of you like or dislike and eventually you can translate a little better what his opinion means to you, rather than disregarding the whole thing.
In the end it is only one man's opinion.

Myself, I am not interested in any tactical knife usage, and most of my knife selections in my collection show this. However, I do think that nutnfancy's comments are valid when it comes to assessing the tactical usability of knives, esp when they are marketed as such.
Case in point: his review of the fixed blade ZT 121. A knife which looks awesome and which is clearly marketed towards professionals. But his review demonstrates several weaknesses of the knife if chosen for a tactical usage. This doesn't preclude it from being, say, a useful bushcraft knife, but as a tactical knife it misses the mark. It depends on the viewer how important they think that tactical usage is for them, to take these comments into account or not.

When compared with other 'knife experts' on the internet, he is doing a good job. He seems extremely experienced in what he is doing out there. I really like his videos and appreciate his integrity. Sometimes too long-winded, but very informative. And hey, be honest, I don't think many among us could do a similar job with such enthousiam as he does. May he live long!

I have only seen his video reviews of the Tom Brown Tracker, so I am only commenting on those two vids. Both videos were a commentary/ review of the movie "the Hunted", and of the audience watching them. He said right up front that he did not have a Tracker or the Beck knife that it was similar to. He really bashed the movie, the story line and special effects.
He did repeat several times that he had never used the knife, but his vids were supposed to be reviews of the knife.
He kep repeating taht this would not happen or that couldn't be done etc.., but never got around to telling us what the knife could do.

Like anyone else the guy isn't perfect and their are going to be those who like him and those who don't. Luckily their are a few other people willing to youtube knife reviews and you can always go somewhere else. I'm just glad people are willing to take the time and energy to make the reviews because it does help people to see the fit, finish, and tolerances of a knife before buying. If somebody REALLY hates him though, they should consider making some videos, nothing wrong with more knife reviews on the web.

I've watched many of his videos. They are better than most. The videos could be shorter; he does tend to ramble. To get better I think he needs to be a bit more focused by outlining the key points to be covered prior to taping the video.

He might also ask someone (in the news media possibly) to critique his videos.

Overall, he does a good job. It is good to see someone actually use the product. And don't foreget, his videos and products cost him money and time but it is free to us.

So thanks
Nutnfancy

well I was going to post a long drawn out comment about it but chose to let everything go. If he cannot take criticism he shouldnt be doing videos. People who say, and I quote, "dont criticise me at all" happen to always have an "Im better than you" attitude that really throws me off. I wont be watching any of his videos just in the fact that he still uses the word tactical over 30 times in a ten minute video....

I don't mind his videos, but if that kid is a Lite Colonel, then I am General Custer.

With all respect to his knife knowledge, I find his "obsessiveness" to tactical knives annoying. He cannot imagine himself packing some spear point bowie tactical knife further than few meters out of his house in case apocalypse starts to happen and he has to run to the forrest with one knife that does everything. I find this kind of mindset common with zombie apocalypse survivors (who always need to run to the forrest with one knife when shit hits the fan).

No offense.

he is awesome. he has helped me soo much. and has told me all sorts of different sites to go to!
