Nutnfancy: love or not.

I'm going to stand behind Nutnfancy. He seems like a really nice guy. I dig his reviews - they're very detailed and he doesn't miss any points. He gives his opinion on the knives he reviews and always says not to take his views as gospel. Do I have the same taste in knives that he does? No, not exactly. Are all the features he values in a knife the same that I value? No, not all of them. It doesn't make his reviews any less valuable, though. Not to me at least. I've been subscribed to his channel for a long time and I won't be unsubscribing unless he stops knife reviews. It takes a lot of time for him to consistently put out content like he does and I appreciate him doing that.

Before this is moved:

I like the guy and enjoy watching his reviews. I dont have to agree with everything or how he does things to enjoy it (kind of like this forum). I could careless to critique his job. He enjoys what he does and has energy to keep me enganged.

Who is "Nutnfancy"? Should I be familiar with him? He has military rank? And this validates him somehow? Guess I'll have to look him up so I can form an opinion about him.

Haters gunna hate, ain't 'ers gunna ain't.

Haha

Honestly though,

He's an entertaining guy with the gift of gab and ability to capture an audience.

I enjoy his videos even though sometimes he treads into expert territory and looks like a real goofball.
In the end, his dialogue and contant is entertaining and enjoyable.

I'm holding my breath until he reviews the Kabar Beckers, specifically the bk21.
He did the Camillus bk7 and bk9, he didn't rave about them due to the 2/3 grind rather than the ffg.
He's still the foremost serious knife guy on YouTube IMO.

His reviews are way too long but he really covers everything. And his likeability scale is kinda sweet if you just want to quickly see what he thinks of the product.

I think the biggest issue is that he isn't a knife enthusiast. He's more of a practical knife user. Which sometimes can go against some of the enthusiasts views. I use to own a Norseman. I could see why it cost $500. Nutnfancy does not see the value because he's looking at it from a practical standpoint. Practically the Norseman is no better than something like a S30V Blur, but from the enthusiasts standpoint the Norseman is lightyears ahead of that same blur.
That's just my opinion though.

That's good and accurate insight.
What are companies and models you think he should have been excited about, even considering a higher price tag?

I think he is a knife enthusiast but he still focuses on practical use. That is the main point of his 1st and 2st kind of cool.

I haven't watched a video of his in years, so I can't really name any specific videos, but his sebenza review is a good example.

It's hard to describe what I'm trying to describe, so I'll try to make an analogy. If we were talking about cars and car enthusiasts. He'd be the enthusiast that would buy a Mazda 3 hatchback because it's fun to drive, reasonably priced and practical. And the other enthusiasts I was talking about are the people who say screw practicality and buy a Porsche 911 despite the price because it's more precise than a Mazda.

I know he did one.
It's probably been a while since I've watched it if I ever did. Any blade over $200 seems to be more than it's worth for me. And that is probably why I don't remember the review.
I'm sure he caught flack for it if it was a negative review, because a guy like him is going to expect A LOT from a blade that expensive.

Dont love, but don't hate either..
If I don't agree with what he's saying or think its taking too long,, I move on,,no big deal.

He can be entertaining when he's not whining. It bothers me when it can take a couple minutes before he truly starts talking about the actual knife. Then again, how else do you create a 30min knife review? [emoji23]

I'm a fan when the length is proportionate to the cost ie. a 20min review on a Sebenza = OK, but a 20min review on a $20 knife? No thanks

I like his reviews.

Do prefer jimpaaang just like he does. ;)

Don't recall any political posts though. I just watched reviews about knives or gear I was interesred in.

My recollection is a little fuzzy, but I seem to remember that I had to fill him in on the basics of Bowie knives when he was first holding himself out as an expert and reviewing the Cold Steel models and one other factory knife a few years back ;)

One of the many that came and went years ago. I think I went to one of his reviews once, and he talked so much that I just left and never went back. I never paid much attention, I guess.

I have always really appreciated Nutnfancy! He is a good and intelligent man who presents interesting info and opinions if you are interested in hearing them. I started watching his stuff when he was new. I had been interested in knives my whole life, but I was pretty ignorant relative to now. I learned a lot from his videos and opinions. His videos helped me buy a couple of really great knives, and for that I am sincerely thankful! I unsubscribed to him a few years ago so I didn't get his videos on my feed and now only search a few of his knife videos when I want to. I don't agree with many of his opinions, but such is life. I also agree with many of his opinions even all these years later. An admirable man in my opinion, I like him! Frankly I agree with him more often than the majority of the people in this forum. But I appreciate all of you too, thank you all for your input. ; P
