Nutnfancy: love or not.

Yeah, a half hour review on the Paramilitary 2, was a bit much, however he did make a shorter version for us!
I like that the man actually uses equipment, and finding the right tool for a job at hand seems to be what he stresses.
You never know how things perform whether it be a firearm or a knife if it stays locked in a safe.
He has at least earned my respect, by finding his niche.

While I agree he is not a mall ninja he damn sure isn't a navy seal or green beret commando. I think he was air national guard but I'm not 100% and don't really care to dig into his life story. Point being he wears load outs and maintains the appearance of a commando , even though he is not a commando.

I'm with you on him not being a mall ninja though..and I departed the army in 2012 so I have a clue on what an actual commando is and does.

And no I was not a commando, but I have indeed met and been around what people call commando's.

It sounds like we're on the same page. He's definitely not a special operator, even though he seems to be enamored by their gear; but at the same time, Air Force pilots are qualified on the M4/M16 and M9, and they also have a good amount of survival training. That's true regardless of whether they're Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve or Regular Air Force.

I think it's fair if someone wants to poke fun at him for "playing commando," but I wouldn't call him a mall ninja.

I would hardly call him a mall ninja considering his extensive backround in all things survival/military. He clearly has an understanding about what he is talking about and seems to honestly care about people and their well being. I would say this world would benefit from more people like him. I appreciate someone breaking the mold of the "gung ho oo rah killem up" soldier/survivalist that we see so many of. He is realistic and modest. I find it hard to believe some of the opinions I'm reading here. Seriously, why the animosity?

I could be wrong but I believe all pilots go threw sere training and what not. While it's not as comando as prestiging at call of duty like most of the true mall ninjas it's still a very tough school from what I hear

Also not to mention hundreds of hours of video regarding outdoors/survival/firearms/knives and all that's related. Military aside, if you devote enough time (hundreds of hours of video and probably double that minus the editing) and have a working brain, I wouldn't hesitate to call you at least proficient in said areas.

He's a bit long winded, but I like him

He is a bit too long winded for me , but I also like him. I like that he s a vet and in law enforcement. (He certainly seems to be able to shoot a handgun.) I feel that he s a useful source for knife info prior to a purchase.

Its hard for me to watch any review thats as long as his. Grip tape and duracoat everything. I don't think he is a mall ninja but definitely leaning toward the mall ninja side. There also seems to be alot of products that could/should be reviewed that he seems to pass over nonchalantly. I understand he has his place but too tacticool for me.

I'm a fan of nutnfancy. While I don't always agree with him, he spends a lot of time using a product before reviewing it. He's also very pragmatic in his reviews, which I consider refreshing and valuable. Also,

And, referring to a retired lieutenant colonel as a "mall ninja" or "wannabe commando" is an embarrassingly weak move. Just sayin.

...this.

In general, I like him because he plays a certain role for folks who are interested in guns and knives. I just sat through a 40 minute video of his on Pistol Caliber Carbines, because I don't own any and want to learn more about them. That's where I think his appeal is: to newbies that are just getting into tactical gear. He is consistent, prolific, and throws a ton of information (relevant or not) at you. Once I get to use a tool, and form my own ideas, I don't find his videos so interesting anymore. What is funny is people who take his word as gospel. I remember watching a review some guy made while running around the woods with knee pads and a can of WD40, a tell-tale sign his horizons needed to be broadened.

I believe he was the point man for the U.S. government, who launched Operation Tactical Doodle to capture Elian Gonzalez.

He fell off my radar when

Watching him not be able to use an axe
And see him using the spitting axe for chopping
He got awfully winded
Then declared absolutely with 100% conviction that axes were not good tools for the woods

LOL... he has since developed more axe-sense. There are videos of him running around with a Gransfors Bruks after that.

Lol, I saw the vid where he was worn clean out after 4mins of axe swinging. I also saw his arms turn to jelly after 2mins of chopping with a big bowie. He talks out of his ass a lot.

I have seen a couple of his videos and found I was doing a lot of fast-forward to get to the stuff that interested me. I don't find the videos bad, just a bit long-winded and probably twice as long as they need to be. I don't think he is a bad guy, but he definitely likes to hear himself talk.

Unfortunately I don't really remember him or his vids. What I REALLY DON"T LIKE about some of these people on YOU-tube is that all they are REALLY interested in is hearing their OWN voice. When you spend 25 + min giving a review of a knife that any NORMAL person would take 5 min. You are just "GRANDSTANDING" I have "DISSED" several of these "characters" online because I don't "suffer fools gladly" If you want to go on the internet and make a video in which you portray yourself as a "MORON" That's your choice. But you must realize that not all of us who use "social media" are idiots! The problem is that you have now displayed yourself to the world as an "IDIOT". You can't take that back. The damage is done. YOU ARE AN IDIOT-MORON. It is unfortunate that you do not have the mental capacity to see that is how you have portrayed yourself. So then you just want to use a catch phrase and call people like me " HATERS". When I went to school, we actually had to write exams, we actually had to learn to read and write the "ENGLISH" language correctly. I am sorry that so many young people out there are "PATHETIC" losers. The "INTERNET" is a WONDERFUL thing. You can actually learn to speak & spell "ENGLISH"
