Nutn would endorse a turd ad long as it had jimping and came in under 4 ounces.

Hardheart, Do you support theft? You pay to be part of blade forums, which allows the sale of knock offs. I would not say you support theft or advocate it even though there are sale threads, review threads and support threads for knock offs on here. I may have got something totally different out of the vid. I got ,you get what you pay for. Don't expect ZT or Hinderer quality when you go cheap.

The thing about this is that for those who want a cheap china made 8CR hinderer look-alike, you can already do so without the immorality... by which I mean the Kershaw Cryo

Fakes/Homages:
As fakes and homage items are a legal gray area and obviously hurt the hobby, no fake or homage items may be sold on the Exchange. Members may not knowingly sell unlicensed knockoffs or counterfeit versions of knives (or any other goods) based upon the designs of their legitimate owner, manufacturer or custom maker. Additionally, members may not sell any knife or item known or suspected to be other than as described in terms of its lineage and authenticity.

This is why I don't watch many of his knife reviews.
The shooting vids are cool, and I do watch those.

I've noticed on a lot of his "high end" knife reviews, he talks about not ever using the knife because he has cheaper blades that do the same.
While I understand this, how can you put up a 30 minute review of a knife with out ever using and call it a review? Its called a first impression.

You guys do have to remember that the people buying these fakes would/could never buy a real xm18.
Either way, this still sucks, he just sold at least a few fakes.

Steel130, I know what that rule says, yet I see inron my803 and Sanremu 710s for sale on the excange by members, dealers and material providers quite often, without any mention they are in violation by Mods.

As much as I dislike hearing him I decided to watch about 10 minutes of it.
He makes it sound like its a great deal, and he has no problem with them making them. He's also saying how the ZT, and other expensive knives are over priced. He acts like its no different from buying Spyderco's made in China, and people are only skipping the middleman when they buy knockoffs. Seems like he's pushing these knockoffs to me.

Would you buy one?

No, but I don't buy a Chinese Spyderco either. But I'm a knife snob.
P.s. Ken, nutin' does really like the sound of his own voice doesn't he.

...probably because they aren't in violation of anything. Sometimes, a Sanrenmu is just a Sanrenmu.

This is a Sanrenmu 710. It's not called a Sebenza, it's not going to get passed off as a Sebenza, it doesn't have a Chris Reeve / Sebenza stamp anywhere, it's explicitly made from 8cr13MoV (not S35vn), its handles are explicitly made of steel (not Titanium)...The worst thing you can say about it is that it bears a pretty vague resemblance to the Sebenza. Not a single person is stupid enough to get duped into thinking that the 710 is a Sebenza. It's not a fake Sebenza, it's a genuine Sanrenmu 710. What part of that violates the following rule?

you'd think buy now even HE would realize the difference between a cheap knock-off to the real thing, they'll never match up

Glad I unsubscribed a long time ago.

I hope my TNP stock doesn't drop because of this.

Somebody answer me this: how are these counterfeiters harming anybody? I don't support them, but I've never understood how people can get so worked up over them, either. Judging by the aftermarket prices, the demand for genuine Hinderer knives won't be going away anytime soon. I doubt these counterfeits have affected his business much, if at all.

Hahahaha, WOW. Looks like we've already made the leap of comparing buying a knife to murder.

Everything's being compared to murder nowadays.

So your saying if we few consumers here who love Hinderer knives ignore the knock offs they'll stop making them?

No, and of course not... But when a person who has roughly 278,000 plus youtube subscribers comes out in support of a foreign company's blatant counterfeit version of a well known maker's knife, and if many of those subscribers are avid followers and of those, many decide that if it's OK with nutnfancy to support theft of IP, then it's all good and then they go running to buy these knockoffs, don't you think that this would serve to ramp up production of these fakes by that company if in the next week or so it becomes known that all those languishing on websites get purchased all of the sudden?

Theft is theft. Supporting a thief by publicly claiming to your 278,000 followers that a stolen design/product is "Good" when one knows that quite a few will run to buy whatever you hype is no better.

And to those who think that knockoffs are good for competition and keeping prices down, think about this... It is always going to be cheaper to reverse engineer for the purposes of copying in mass quantities a proven product than it is to think up a design and make, remake, hone, redesign, make again, again refine, and continue on until the final version lives to the specifications on the original idea. "XM" stands for "Experimental Model", so I believe Rick made at least 18 folders with 18 refinement before he was satisfied with his original version of the XM-18. How many do ya think this foreign company had to make before cranking up the production line once they broke down a real XM to examine and copy everything? One...maybe?? Rick's operation is small. The company making these is most likely very large. Think small shop in Anytown USA striving for quality vs. a WalMart or larger sized superstore buying in bulk and paying its workers crap wages to produce & sell fakes. That's not competition...that's crap.

To "nutnfancy", I say this... Way to support a foreign company's counterfeit product. :thumbdn: You want to to hype Chinese counterfeits? Leave the USA and go live in China.

I would like to see what Mr. Hinderer has to say about all this. Seems to me that it really isn't that big of a deal. In my humble opinion, If I was Mr. Hinderer, I would not be worried about cheap Chinese knockoffs of my designs. If there is no way to prosecute the parties responsible for the crime, why waste time working myself up into a tizzy? Folks interested in Hinderer knives are very unlikely to go to the trouble to buy one of these knockoffs... only certain knife nuts buy quality blades like Hinderers... they can spot a fake a mile off. As for Nutn, he may have a massive ego, but no one can say that he does not put a lot of work into his project... and everyone screws up at one time or another.

Dorito, the 710 was based on the earlier sebenza. The rule says," ...based upon the designs of the original owner.android the materials make a difference? The chp and the my803 which was in the vid were not made of the same materials as the ZT or hinderer, does that make them not knockoffs?

No, but I don't buy a Chinese Spyderco either. But I'm a knife snob.
P.s. Ken, nutin' does really like the sound of his own voice doesn't he.

Yeah, I'm a bit of a knife snob myself. If I did buy cheap knives it wouldn't be a knockoff.
Well, I have bought Case knives under $100, but thats about it in that price range.

He must like the sound of his own voice. I got to about the 10 minute mark, and then noticed there was about 20 minutes left.

Jaxx, what i meant by that is should some one never subjectively review a knockoff? Not that is what he does, justa general question.

Knockoffs are completely fair game and good for consumers. Counterfeits are not, and it looks like one of the knives comes pretty close to counterfeit.
