I would think that the best way to not support ripoffs is to not buy items that are ripoffs, rather than boycott the entire country. But, hey, that's just me.

I said to not support ripoffs AND the company cutting corners in their product. And with the addition that I like to support the US economy instead.
 
I wouldnt buy one. Ever. I also cannot afford a Hinderer at 800 bucks. So no Hinderers for me unfortunately. Thats why I love my ZT's. Im surprised that Fancypants did that wow. Anyhoo, back to my corner before the Hinderer patrol gets me again.

So then don't buy ripoffs or bad quality products, rather than boycotting the entire country. Seems pretty simple.
Wanting to support the US economy makes way more sense as a reason not to buy foreign made goods. (Though it's still heavily debatable.)
 
I agree that stealing designs is wrong. It is easy to get made at someone making a fake xm18 or seb21 but what about all the rest of the low end knives that get copied. I have to agree with nutnfancy. The people that buy the knockoffs will never spend 800 for a real hinderer. I carry high end knives and I like the real thing. Having said that I would not be against buying a knockoff for $20 so I could beat the crap out of it. The only downside is having to be careful not to purchase a fake at real prices.
 
My wife's handbag forum (yes, it really exists) has the exact same discussions. About those who buy knock-off purses and those who only buy real. And they are so rampant that the purse companies' police can't keep up with the traffic.
 
Whatever what nutnfancy said the price range won`t change and im ok with that, high quality will always be more $$$
 
The guy is a hypocrite. He made a video for the Bradley Alias 1 years ago that flies in the face of what he says in this video.

So you don't buy anything Chinese made period? You were able to ignore all of Kershaw's offerings made in China? I'm impressed... Or is Kershaw exempt from your no China policy since your KAI #0169

Fakes and knockoffs have no place in my collection, but budget series made in China by Kershaw, I'm ok with.
 
I don't understand why Nutn bashes high end knives, then marvels over the copies. If he thinks the high end knives are junk, I can live with that, but why go out of your way to get a knock off of something that is junk?

Douchery and Asshattery aplenty in every video NF makes.

1/2 an hour video just for a tool to tell me stealing is ok, because the gun who made a great design charges too much (let me tell you, He could charge way more direct, because of the huge secondary demand for his knives). He also gives discounts to active military and LEO's etc. I can see why NF would begrudge an American business man success.


Also, on a side note, I don't subscribe to the "No Chinese" knives theory. With the population there, and their manufacturing capability they should have no problem making their own stellar designs.

I have some Chinese made knives that are unbelievably well made for the cost. (I am thinking my AG Russell slip joint is one of those). A beauty, and worth more than I paid by any measure.



I won't buy a knock off. That does not mean I won't buy a well made Chinese product that is not a knock off.

I can see that the importers may be breaking some laws, but what laws are being broken by the manufacturers of these knives? If I am misconstruing your implication, then I apologize.

I believe if you watched the video he says its a fake, and he says its a stolen design. But he also said its a good knife and that he's just reviewing the knife. I think people just want to hate on him. As for Rick it sucks bad that his designs are being stolen but there's nothing he can do about it. All he can do is keep making Badass knives so we won't buy the fakes.
 
Why buy fake Hinderers from China when you can buy a real Hinderer designed knife made in China in the Thermite and Cryo?

I don't understand how Nutn can be all preachy about politics and his call to arms and such and then arbitrarily decide to put politics aside and promote ripoffs the profit off of someone else's work/designs.
 
I think it is really tacky for Nutnfancy to endorse these knockoffs. Remember, before the year is over, there will be several Chinese Kershaw designs for sale at great prices. Of course the Cryo is already available. No one has to go broke to have a Hinderer design.
 
Some of you (you know who are, if you don't look at your warning/infraction history) need to remember you're not in W&C. No more warnings will be given...please stay on topic

Impatience? I'll wait for the Thermite, since it looks better than the knockoffs, and will have Kershaw's warranty and F&F. I already have a Cryo, and I love it for it's category.

- They can buy a Kershaw Hinderer designed knife that is a legitimate knife with a warranty. Kershaw makes a profit and so does Hinderer. The ripoffs benefit neither.

I usually don't buy Chinese made knives since I like to support U.S. companies, but I'd buy a legitimate Chinese made knife over a copy/ripoff any day.
