Odd and unique shop tools

That's what I was about to say before I got to the bottom of the thread! use em for etching, to include electro etching. One guy does it, dont remember who. I use em for cold blue also.

Alright - here y'a go!
(notice there is a "leg" sticking out of the bottom.)

Looks like a knife vise/board for draw filing/handrubbing but darned if I know why the emphasis on the "leg."

Q tips could be useful but i prefer tooth pics and a side of cotton balls way more uses. kellyw

Applying Preparation H.:confused::eek: HEHEHEHEHE!!!!

I have heard Prep-H is supposed to make a**holes shrink. Whatever you do I.G., don't fill the tub with that stuff and soak in it. You would become an instant midget. :D:D

We still love you anyway, you old geezer.

I think I'd find that useful for drilling handle scales for tapered tangs. The leg would clamp into a drill press vice nicely. Keep your jig from turning into a fan blade.

He takes those baths from time to time just for a twist on the kinky sex stuff he likes to get into. When he's done he pops some viagra with an ex-lax chaser and stretches right back to his "normal" size. He's been known to take viagra when he goes to sleep after a long nights drinking too...keeps him from falling out of bed!

The leg fits in the vice, holding the fixture horizontally. Then, well, let me think about what you do with the darn thing.

Hmm....

The stains indicate solvent of some sort has come in contact with the leather. Is it for clamping an acetone soaked sheath with the blade inside, so you can get a tight formed fit under the guard?

I have a good one to post, if I got it...

I feel really confident!

Dang it, I have a great "tool" I wanna post but I can't until someone figures out that weird jig thingy...

No, IG, it's not "THAT" kind of tool, you sicko

You clamp it horizontally in the vice with the two socket head cap screws pointing up. Then you put a blade in it with the guard pressed down to the ricasso. Then you begin tightening the cap screws down onto the guard, squeezing it together until any gaps between the gaurd and the ricasso are completely removed. The leather protects both the knife finish and the guard finish from being marred, as it would be if you were to just put it into a vice and squeeze it together.

p.s.
I hope I'm wrong, so that I don't have to search my shop for another odd and unique tool. I might pass it on to someone else, if I get it right.

Looks like it could be a fixture for holding a blade by the ricasso so you can drill through the handle/tang for a pin. The leg would go in the drill press vise.
