Ode to BUCK's Opus 112 A Gala & Photo Gallery Celebrating the Buck Ranger

Funny with all the westerns an gun fights on the shows an the 3 STOOGE'S back in the day "we were also a less violent society?" and more people owned gun's too back then! an more per house hold across this country, but of course those shows also did not gray down right from wrong like the TV shows and Movies today.....Today they root for the bad guys and sometimes it touigh to figure out whos the bad guy? the hero is sometimes as bad as the villian! LOL but when Lucas Mcain dropped that Model Winchester lever action with the over sized loop "you knew!" he was about to take out the bad guys an left you with no doubt he was the good guy! and who was the bad guy. LOL

DM, first what a great grouping of 112's nice! thabnks for sharing those an putting them up on this 112 tribute page. DM, I gather they never made a #1 pin 112 did they? the 112's came way after the #1 pin 110's....right?

the woods on those handles are beautiful....so funny we use to in the mid 70's take high grit sand paper an round the edges so they could resist a hit or drop better an allot easier to fix, some even did to their bolsters after getting damaged to badly.....

those are some beautiful wood handles.....We use to take high grit sandpaper an round the edges of the handles belieiving the knife would resist hard hits an drops better! especially after seeing our freinds knives get dropped or take a hit an the handles splinter or crack or dent. rounding them also made it easier to fix...LOL Some if they damaged their bolsters would round the edges too.

The Rifleman was a great show. Thanks. The 110 came out in 1964 and the 112 in 1970. The 112's started with 3 pins and No nail nick. A nail nick finally came with the 3 dot model. Good luck on procuring a 112 micarta these days. DM

Wow ~Invoice~ those Stags are beauties......and the middle one is Micarta. Thanks for sharing those I got my wheels turning now about procuring a 112 in Stag. I got a Stag in 110 a few months ago my first one I love it! no sheath so I went with a Distressed Brown 110 Sheath a nice soft look and conditioned it with Bees wax to darken it bit. But I believe the Stag had a flap over sheath originally. Not sure? its 110 -> right turn arrow.

agian thanks for sharing your babies.....have a great day!

Nope US. Middle one is the real Madagascar Ebony. I can't remember if it is a 2 dot or 3. Maybe you are commenting on the 110?

~Invoice~ no I need my eyes checked....LOL actually your middle one look's like one of mine I posted 2nd to last with the "blaze orange" platform.....440C SS Ebony

I know procuring that Micarta set 110 & 112 was way out of my league.....LOL I gave up on it too because he also didn't have the sheaths, It was not worth it to me if he had them, I might have gone the extra mile.

DM #7 I wouldn't doubt it's wrong.....I'm alway trying to procure era correct sheaths and try to mix and match. But always look for born on date sheath with the knife I won't seperate mine sheaths from my knives
its sacrilgious! to me. Its like seperating twins.

It's Shedua wood, I like the light grain on that one. I added a link with info on Shedua for you. I also have a soft spot for the chip flint blades:thumbup:.

Great thread you have going here, and I hope you have a fantastic Sunday as well!

JB, That's the baby. Those are fantastic! Thanks for posting your photos. Indeed a 3 line micarta is rare. The two line are more common. DM

Here is my ode to the 112
I rescued it from the "bay"
Nickel Silver bolsters, but a blade way past its expiration date.

No longer a 112, but a hybrid
Nickel Silver bolsters, Amboyna Burl scales and a new 482 blade :)

Awesome DesertChris....what a handle on that bottom one....Yes I like to rescue the ones that seem to be heading to the trash heep of Buckdom......and you could always send it for a new blade or customize it...

Your telling me that 2nd knife bottome photo is the top knife? LOL O.M.G. I can't believe it......sorry I didn't pick up on that right away...LOL but I was Multi Tasking I was aquiring my NEW Buck 121 online going back and forth an also getting supper ready for the TRIBE an also frying up a huge New York Sirloin as I was going back and forth to this thread an watching the stove....LOL

DM thanks for clearing that up for me!

DesertChris nice choices for handles an bolsters an blade.....

I have two, a BuckLite 112 and a Ranger 112. The Ranger version goes hunting with me most of the time in a sheath on my hip (I carry my fixed blades in my pack). OH
