I don't remember seeing it in rams horn. That is gorgeous. And here I thought I didn't need an other 112. I had the usual one over a decade ago, but it went missing, or got stolen. I got a110 to replace it, but there is something about the 112

Hi W.M.B.,

Buck did a few short run Rams horn issues, like DM's brass 3 dot (issued in 2008) he showed us on page #3. Buck opened the 112 to a short run of knives to be made in the Buck Custom Shop in 2007, one could place an order for what ever was available for the CS 110s. I ordered a Sambar stag and Rams horn 112, as there have not been many 112 in finger groove with NK silver frame that is the way ordered them. The Custom shop offer was only open for a very short time and orders were only taken for just over 100 knives. Here is a better shot of the Rams horn version.

Are there no pins holding in the horn?

Nope, no pins. The glue is so good these days that the pins are just for looks. Also, IMHO I like the color of Rams horn better with brass than I do with NK silver.

I know this is a 112 thread so I hope the OP (USMule) doesn't mind the 110 photo added. Here is a CS 110 Rams horn brass with pins (note how smooth this RH is on one side).

JB, Plus the 110 blade looks unfinished. Like they only buffed it on the sisal wheel and didn't finish polishing it. DM

JB, yes in 2007 Buck responded to this Forum Members demands and allowed a limited time run of Custom 112's. Turns out there were less than 100 ordered. So, I doubt they'll offer it again. Still, some gents got a real Custom 112 folder and Buck tested the waters. DM

Then added her scrimshaw work to it. Making it a very handsome package. DM

Nice scrimshaw, I have a soft spot for that art form, do to all the whaling history here and seeing allot of the art pieces here locally.....thanks for sharing that gem DM...

That might just be the most beautiful 110 I've ever seen.

John, I'm a lucky man just to have a wife. More so, one that's talented. Yes, she does special gifts and this is one. Leesa says thanks.
Your club 112 knives look great. You got '2' of those! Good move. Do you remember the blade steel on those? DM

David, the blade steel on the BCCI stag/DP is S30V. I got two of those so I could let one go to a deserving collector one day. The new collector who got the knife from me was none other than our Beloved Dave Hallmark, he was a newbie at the time and had the fever real bad. RIP PLB you are a missed forum member and friend!

I agree. Plumber was a great member, collector and friend to many. I'm sure he liked that 112. Thanks, DM

New aquistion this week. This knife to me has never been used or sharpened, it's flawless not a blemish on it.
Category III, Stamped BUCK, *112*, U.S.A. 1974 to 1980.
According to papers born on date 04-1977

I don't know? the bolster's look a little rounded to me? yet it says 1977 for date born. But it could be my eyes playing games with me.....

* Data from Joe Houser: Important note: The 112 does not appear to follow the same pattern as its big brother, the 110, as it pertains to the dot blade markings. For instance, the first time we see rounded edges on the 110 handle is on a 4 dot version. The first time we see it on the 112 is on a 3 dot version.
An explanation for this is that there was probably quite a few 112’s made up with the 3 dot stamp and it took a while to use them all up. This is the best theory we have right now on that.

Version 4. brass inlay rivets are now approximately 1/8” in diameter.

This 112 Ranger is 1989 vintage. Here it's lying on 1.7 billion-year-old Baraboo quartzite rock, on the Potholes Trail, at Devil’s Lake State Park, Wisconsin. The striations running approximately vertically are ripple marks. These formed in the original sandstone, which dates from a time when the sand was on the seabed a few feet deep in an ocean back in Precambrian times. When that sandstone formed, Earth was about 2/3 its current age.
