depends ... if you have to make the snow pile yourself, many many hard hours. if you are in the back country, and find the right conditions and place, a few hours.
 
mmm, i got a Becker Knife and Tool stainless steel water bottle that someone with a straight sided (standard) guyot bottle might be interested in contacting me about a trade ;)

i'm just too cheap to buy a $27 waterbottle at this time. keep hoping they'll appear on Amazon for a better price. don't like the tapered model so much for some reason (also $$)

i've seen a number of the kleen kanteens, and in store, it doesn't seem like the nalgene threads/caps are the same. that would be important for the number of aftermarket nalgene products that depend on those threads - filters, various lids, coffee makers, and all that.

but really, i have a LOT of water bottles lately. short of losing one over a cliff, i've not lost them otherways, and i just keep acquiring them. the older ones get recycled to use as waterproof ammo holders eventually (the old old WHITE polypro nalgenes - 1 liter == 1000+ 22s)

hydrate or die as they say...

Wrap some wet/dry around it and you can hold it tight.

"Ethan's January Challenge" is underway (if anyone has any snow:confused:) - has anyone heard anything about the December Challenge results?
 
No snow yet, but it's just a matter of time. The results take some time to come in on these challenges Col. Moose and E are pretty busy, it'll get judged, no worries.

I thought it was a bacon press ;-) yeah I put a handle on my strop. It definitely helps with the longer blades.
 
And we have people here in Germany calling that inhumane and overly exaggerated, and saying that calling the cops and hiding in a locked room is always enough, and that a home invasion doesn't happen to normal people anyways. The woman must have been involved in drugs. Or child pornography. Or been a nazi. :mad:

I see stupid people.
 
If someone breaks into my home, they are going to be the one needing to hide behind a locked door, and a bulletproof one at that.
Break in my place and your getting a face full of lead, and if my kids there your gonna get shot even faster, and more times just to make sure.

I read that and thought, this dude must be drinkin', then I realized I have been drinking. True story.
 
Good one FAL'er. If someone comes through my door in a threatening fashion he's gonna see me behind a full size scutum (roman rectangle shield) with either my axe or my 12" machete.
