Too bad 4g is where its at now. I'd post a celebratory video link, but your slow 3g prob can't handle it :D

Yeah, but I'm busting 3G on my 1991 cell phone. Top that, Junior.

I'm thinking I'm going to order the Snugpak Sleeper Lite sleeping bag, and a 12cm Zebra pot with my Christmas money. Snugpak is rated to 32°, with a low comfort rating of 18°. A guy at BCUSA said he used his comfortably down to 15°. They pack up to 9x9.

I posted a question about Shimano reels earlier today in the Hunting & Fishing forum and have yet to get many responses. That forum doesn't seem to get as much traffic as the BKT and I know some of you guys here are knowledgeable about these things so any feedback would be appreciated.

Go with the shimano Saros 3000, its a damn good reel and will outlast a Pflueger any day.
Personally I would get the 3000, its the same reel with a deeper spool, paddle handle and a more powerful drag.

I have used the Shimano stradic and sustain for over 10 years and they are the best spinning and casting reels out there IMO, Japan made reels are made with precision, the bearings, machining and tolerances are perfect....

I have a BNIB Stradic FI 3000 I'm selling for $100.00 if your intersted just PM me.
Since I don't use spinning reels anymore I'm selling it.
arendtsen1@yahoo.com I can send you pics also if needed

St-Croix LTB 7''0" fishing rod
Shimano Chronarch 101D7
Upgrades
Orange Seal Bearings
Power-Handles
Black Star Drag

I have a Snugpak I picked up at the Gathering, and it is rated down to a low of 36°. Between it and a fleece liner inside of a bivy, with a self inflating sleeping pad, I was good down to around 22° or so. I was however protected from the wind by a tarp, and there was ventilation to help remove dew and condensation from my breath. While not as heavy duty as what you are looking at, it does the job very nicely, and in a very small package, going down to about the size of a nalgene.

I have no input on the Zebra pot, although I do know they are rather hard to get ahold of sometimes. I do hear the 12cm is the one to go with.

None the less, I was also going to carry a wool blanket as well.

I know the 10cm Zebra will fit in a 12x5 Max bottle bag, along with a Guyot bottle, and GSI cup, but the 10 isn't much bigger than the GSI cup is. I have the Belgian gas mask bag I have my twig stove, Guyot, and GSI cup in. Plenty of room to spare. I'm hoping the 12cm will fit in there with them as well. If not, I can always carry it separately.

Here's the 10cm, next to a GSI cup, for size reference:

BTW, there's a few places selling the Zebras, even ePrey. The 10cm is the hard one to find.

I like the 12cm the best Dubz. We take the 16cm and a MSR Alpine frypan when we need a bombproof set up for two people. It's not light though.

Damn. Technology has arrived in podunk. Used to struggle to get Edge out here. I'm busting 3 bars of 3G at the moment.

4G is a unicorn. people believe in it, but nobody in the USA has seen it yet. marketing hooplah.

according to the specs, 4G is 100 Mbit. at best, *best*, people might see 50Mbit, and really, what they're seeing is 1/10th spec. at best. maybe 1/20 even average.

in europe or japan, 4G+ would really be where it's at, because they don't have the telecom bottle necks we do or said another way, they cannot believe how behind we are. they have FAR more advanced systems than we do. we do have more area in some cases to cover, but that still doesn't explain all the dead spots ;)

not even 15 cities have the tech that they're even calling 4G yet. it's a little faster than 3G, but not much, and some 3G+ phones will see speed boosts in certain areas that will be quite nice. for most of the country, 3G is a nice idea but not a reality either. sad huh?

Yeah, I'm definitely gonna get the 12cm, fo sho.

So, getting to a discussion we had last night, we need to arrange a cage match between 1066vic and The Warrior. Winner take all battle royale. For some background info, Dubz (The Warrior) is the bastard offspring of Andre the Giant and a 50's era Cigarette machine, known most famously for his Murder Harness. Erik (1066vic) is a giant of a man as well, and I am pretty sure I saw him eat a cast iron skillet at the Gathering in October.

PLACE YOUR BETS PEOPLE!

I'm gettin' too old for this shit. :D

hey, now!
it takes a LOT of calories to maintain a figure like mine!

(and it was just a little skillet - mostly worn out, too)

Cigarettes will kill you, so my money is on Dubz.

Haha. :D And, I may have forgotten to mention, that in the murder harness photos, there was a board propping me up, as I didn't want my cane to spoil the photos. ;)

On a side note, with a name like 1066vik, or the last of the vikings, we may be related, lol. My lineage is from the Vikings as well. ;)
