Dang..

I like the grooves way better, but the jimping is better then nothing.
It's certainly not a dealbreaker.

Right now they look almost like the jimping on my Strider AR, but the holes ar closer together. For that kind of jimping I think that the width of the cutouts should be the same as the spaces inbetween them. Right now the holes seem too big and too close together which will be not so nice for the thumb..
I also think that making the holes as small as possible would add in comfort..

my 0.02 eurocts

It would be nice if the jimping worked with a firesteel (or only the part between jimping and scales), and the rest of the spine rounded to go easy on the thumb and the baton..

edit:

Made some quick pics of a Toni Oostendorp (Eastvillage knives) custom which has some very effective jimpings.
They are not as deep, but very effective..

Dan, if you think it's best, I think it's best!

After looking at all of your work and the reviews of it, the reason I decided to pick up a Koster over anything else was because of the respect I have for your work....so I'm totally behind your decision on this one!

Geoff

Go for it.

Dan,
I'm not showing on any of the pg 1 lists for the knife. I've paid in full for the Elite Option and want to make sure my order doesn't get lost. Thx.

I liked the looks of the thumbgrooves better, but I wont sleep before I have a genuine Dan Koster in my collection, so go for it ! :D

I can have the jimping go less deep...I do like that idea.

I'm good either way. How do you plan to do the sheaths for this run? Just open it up once you set a price for the JRE's and start appending everyone's order to whether or not they want a sheath? Or are sheaths going to be sold completely seperate? Are you going to offer your new fancy kydex with this one? Usually I like to try to get the sheath right away with the knife to avoid having the ship the knife around to be sized. I would assume you'll end up keeping one of these back in case someone wants a kydex or something for it down the road though.

That's a lot of babbling. Just let me know how I get a kydex sheath for this bad boy, with or without jimping :)

Thanks Dan!
