I also made one of the snake lanyards...but the wife stole it, might have to try again.

I'd sell you my 4.1 if I had a spare! It's really good to see that you're enjoying it and I'm glad you got it sharpened. I was going to try to do it but I kinda suck at it.
I'll have to try to hunt down the instructions on the Soloman Bar knot. It might be a bigger pain though!

Dude, how bad do you want one? Bad enough to check out page 4 of the exchange?

haha I saw that but I'm a jimping junky, and I'm am still waiting on a few knives I have on order. I am not sure the wife could take me having 4 of the same knife (even if we all know they are all slightly different....) I'm sure a moment of weakness will strike me at some point! Thanks for looking out silver.

Standard, I also suck at sharpening and am only willing to practice on my cheaper knives at the moment...its my deep dark knife shame secret I suppose...

Makes total sense. When you described your next 4.1 I thought of that deal right away.

Ok I'm glad I'm not the only one! I don't have the patience or ability to get steels like these sharp enough to shave with so I stick to softer woods and I strop the hell out of them afterwards.

You guys ever seen these? They are in my local cutlery shop, the place that sort of started it all for Guy and Survive!

Light to med. coat of food grade Mineral Oil on both blade and under scales does the trick for me.
I also use it on the scales when they eventually get that faded 'dry' look.

About 12 years ago place used to just sell a bunch of mall ninja china made 5 dollar junk. Then the guy who just worked there bought the store and now they sell all of the good stuff. From full on custom makers right down to case and swisss army. It sucks going in there because it is VERY VERY VERY difficult to walk out with out something.

That is awesome. Must be a good guy running the place. Other than sporting goods stores the only blade place by me is in a mall and they offer a wide array of movie replica swords, air soft equipment and nunchuks. If you look hard enough you can even find some useful knives. The guy who runs the place is pretty cool though and ordered a few things for me that weren't in his usual stock.

There's a lot of custom makers around here but no actual knife shops. The local army navy has some knives and cool lights but nothing that's really in my taste. Plus they're over priced cause they're kinda only one in the market around here. But nothing comparable to a gso
