Official SURVIVE! picture thread

I believe Guy is a magician when it comes to balance points. After seeing Silver Needles picture with his 5, I tried it with the 6 and it was in the same exact spot.

The man is good  I can speak for the 5.1, the balance is perfect:

This is really cool to hear!! I'm looking forward to a getting a 6!

It has honestly made me rethink future big knife purchases. I know I'm kidding myself but I might pass on the 8 and just get the 10.

That's a lot of nice throwing!

Nice throwing arm chiral. Your getting better.

Nah, that's actually an older video, the weight and balance of the 5.1 just make it easier to get the power of the throw right so rotation remains consistent. The non-skeletonized 4.1 and SK4 are lighter and not quite as well balanced, so I more often fail to get the rotation right.

Tried with anything bigger? A hawk maybe?

I haven't made any videos of it but have done a LOT of throwing with my old CS Trailhawk. The first knife-throwing video I made is with the Rodent 9:

The heavier the projectile, the more predictable/controllable the rotation, it's just a matter of using the right amount of force at a given distance, and there is more wiggle-room since small changes in your throw do not profoundly impact the spin of the projectile. Throwing that big knife is a LOT of fun, it hits HARD and sinks DEEP.

With lighter projectiles, the speed of rotation is harder to control - a little too much or too little force has greater impact on the rotation, especially if the balance on the projectile isn't quite "even". I miss a lot more often with the SK4 and 4.1 than with the R9 or 5.1.

I haven't tried the GSO-10, just not yet confident enough in myself to get it right. I'll give it a throw one of these days... And I do have a GSO-12 on pre-order ;)

A comparison of my absolute favorite knife in between two well known blades that it seems to get compared to every so often.

I ordered my 3.5 with red linen scales*, but I just can't decide if it's the right choice for me (mostly green micarta). This picture speaks in favor of red though!

(*) it was Guy calling the 3.5 an EDC Ferrari that made me do it... Ferraris should be red. :)

Yea she stole it after bow hunting a few weeks ago. She got in the tree and started clearing a sight lane with it and just looked at it and smiled. I knew I'd lost it right then. Happy knife happy wife right. :)

Haha yeah you lost that knife! I wouldn't be mad about it after seeing that either.
