Official SURVIVE! picture thread

Well my mom didn't use this knife so she returned it yesterday. It's a great knife but I don't know if I can pull off pink.

Maybe it'll be a good backup pack knife that'll be hard to lose.

Great little knife! I got the wife a spyderco squeak with pink handles on a whim once (amazon periodically dropped them super cheap) I decided if she didn't want it i'd just rock the pink handles and not worry about it. Probably not any of our first choice for handle color but as you said, will be hard to lose. I also just double checked and Survive! still has pink G10 3.5 handles so you can get a matching set!!;)

Standard can match his blades to his thong, ha! :p

Seriously though, in addition to being harder to lose in the woods, I always thought colorful knives seemed less threatening to those who like to feel threatened by such things.

These guys don't mess around with the brightness! I had it in my pocket today and it stuck out like a sore thumb so it'll make a great backup safety. I considered getting a set of pink 3.5 handles, but I think I'll get the lime green instead.

How did you know about my thong wearing fetish?!!
I think it's definitely less threatening being this bright but it draws a lot of attention so it I don't know if that's good. I haven't caught anyone staring or asking about my 3.5 because it kind of blends in.

Yeah, the flashy color of the knife kind of offsets things.

I'm not sure what kind of fungus it was. I know its not edible but I think these make good tender when dried. We get them here a lot on the oaks but I've never tried to do anything with it.

It won't get stolen. My best friend and I used to do electrical work with my dad. We always got pink and purple tools, and we were the only ones who never "lost" anything.

Well at least it has some sort of use to it. This actually reminds me that I need to find a plant book. I have no clue about species or their uses.

Now that's a good idea! It's crazy how many of my tools grew legs and walked off.
 
Yea I'm having to replace stuff all the time. I bought a brand new esse zancudo and didn't have it two weeks. Clipped it on my bag and reached for it not ten minutes later it was gone. A buddy of mine marks all his tools with pink/purple zebra print tape. Looks goofy as hell and people give him crap all the time but he don't gave stuff walk off.

I won't spoil it for Standard, but I'm in full support of the source material! That Zippo is brass, right?
 
I really been eye balling some sage wood leather. I like the look of the leather with the S!. I'd like to see some kydex/leather hybrids.

its one of the brushed chrome ones, with the finish partially sanded. I think they are all brass underneath? Gives it a bit of a distressed look. Before I could afford knife collecting, I collected zippos, probably have over 30? Now I try and find more unique offerings and sometimes pay more than a person should for a lighter...

I must admit i was initially on the fence about them. If I am going leather i usually prefer 100% leather. That said, I think his sheaths could not be a more perfect match for survive's knives. I was able to snag a used one on the FB page, and at that price it was a damn steal. There was some discussion about taco style kydex, but I am not sure you could get a more streamlined sheath, which is what I wanted. Unfortunately in the northern va area, remote campsites are hard to come by and anything that "softens" the look of what I am carrying, I am all for. The Kydex sheaths are clearly also fabulous and are great for bag carry, and when in more remote settings.
