I'm really hopeing to get out this season, wasn't able to go last year, plus I haven't even seen a deer at my spot let alone get one in almost 4 years, might be time to go scouting for a new one

Im gonna definitely try the scotch bite pads on my emberlite.

Cooper, I would be super stokked if I saw that on my game cam. Hope you bag them this winter. I used to love deer hunting and had one of the best places in Indiana to do it. Killed a lot of deer on my father-in-laws land. No more though. He lost the farm, been some hard years on that side of the family.

Speaking of witch. Just got done with my little family gathering that was stressin me out YESTERDAY. Turns out. On the trip to our house. My father-in-laws SUV chucked out a coil spring on the left rear and it was collapsed on the axle. He drove it almost 200 miles that way. Not wanting to send him home that way, he spent the night here and my brother-in-law and I, took his car out to his shop and jacked it up and put a spring from his race car in it. Of coarse, while doing that we severed a corroed and crushed brake line. Once we replaced that of coarse the bleeders where corroded up and broke off. One pain in the ass after another. Just got it all done and fixed for him to drive home. My whole weekend shot........... no knife work done.:grumpy:

Sounds like you didn't get enough rum.:D

Even if I don't get a chance at a nice buck, it is nice to know they are around. Heck even if I don't get a deer this year, I will help my neighbor butcher theirs. I have a new Hunt Knife to get bloody.

Last year was my first successful hunt. I am very fortunate in that I live on my hunting ground, so I don't have to worry about finding a place to go.

There is several of us who hunt a couple hundred acres, so it is always a blast. Deer season is one of my favorite times of year.

Ive got a couple of bucks mounted in my shop, its always cool to land one but honestly im just as happy to kill a doe. Ive always been a meet hunter and never really got into the trophy hunting.

That clipped knife you just got from me Cooper is really what that knife was designed for. Deer hunting. Let me know how it does, you probably be field dressing a deer before I will.

A doe is all I've ever gotten, and we own the land we hunt on, but we have a certain area that the deer usually come to feed at so that where we put the blind or tree stand, but the last few years we haven't seen much even on the cameras

I bought it with exactly that in mind. I will let you know how it does.

Hopefully your luck changes soon. We lost a lot of deer from drought related disease a couple years ago but they seem to be coming back even stronger than before.

But just think of all the good Karma you built up. :D

Hey WW, when is the bladesports competition you are competing in? What are you doing for training?

Lets see some training videos!

Jeremy

I go August 15th-17th to meet up with Dan to get certified to cut, and i believe ill compete that same weekend at the end. Ill really on get 1 day training with him before the cut. But before the competition of course everyone must be certified by a BladeSports instructor.

I have been mostly practice chopping 2x4s, bottles, cans, straws, rolling tennis balls.. Pretty much the stuff you see done in the comp videos... But i have not been practicing cutting rope because unfortunately 1" rope is expensive as crap to just cut up.

But im mostly just trying to get use to cutting different things, while practicing my technique because i dont have the 2x4 brackets, i dont have proper tables at the proper height, the right straws etc... So its more practicing to cut in general than practicing for a certain event.

I also been lifting a little "weights" and running with my dog. I lift for an hour or so 3 days a week in my basement on my Bowflex , and run with my dog the other 4 days. Now im not lifting to get bigger, just to tone the muscles i have and increase strength a little. I am after all smaller than pretty much every person i have seen competing LOL

But now my comp cutter is back with Dan, he is going to tune it up and get it SHARP before the event next month. But i still have the 3V chopper from Crimson here so i been practicing with it!!!

Checked my trail cam today.

One of these may look good in the freezer this fall...

Good luck with getting one this fall!! Our deer numbers have dropped drastically in recent years and they have been hard to find. I haven't shot one for 3 seasons now and I missed the application deadline for this coming season, so it will be 4.

In other new, my gf found my Spyderco Sage1 today!!!

So, was a little frustrated that I got no knife work done this weekend, my wifes spur of the moment family reunion kinda ended up taking up the whole weekend. So, since I didnt get back here till 4 or so, (to late to really start on knife stuff) me and my son worked on his mini bike. I ended up turning a quick front axle for it on my lathe then putting a tire and tube on the front rim and after looking at the silhouette he decided he wanted the frame streched more to look like a baddass chopper. Lol. About that time he asked me about welding. He knows enough that he knows once we fabricate the parts they have to be welded together. I explained it to him best I could for a 10yr old to understand. He askes me if I can teach him how to weld....... 10 yrs. Old mind you.
Get out the burn ointment honey. Its gonna be a rough learning curve.

3 things I know, 1 keeping the wife happy is paramount to having a satisfying life, 2 spending time with the boy is some of the best time you will ever have, 3 sounds like you have a badass boy who has an awesome role model!

Who was it that told me I need to try the RMD? Whoever it was, if I don't like this blade you're gonna be buying it off me! (Might be getting one on Tuesday). My knife shop is out of the knife I was really looking at getting which kind of sucks. I gotta find something to satiate my steel thirst since Daizee doesn't have anything right now for me! (Do you Daizee?) Also picking up a new hammock this week getting ready for GLIB. Gonna get it from REI depending on what Appalachian's lead time is.

Fact is, I love both of my kids equally, but when it comes to my boy, seriously, hes more of a man at the age of 10 than I will probably ever be. I'm certain he will be O.K. in life. I just hope whatever he wants to do for a living he grabs a hold of it and runs, instead of screwing around and wasting half of his life until he decides what he wants to do like I did.

Do you know what is causing the population decline?

I have not sent in for deer tags, I just buy them over the counter. Heck I don't even have a hunting license right now.

Congrats on getting your knife back. Finding a blade that has been MIA is almost like getting a new knife.:D

Its a sweet blade if you like a choil. Great steel, wonderful heat treat, and a warranty that covers pretty much any major damage forever..... But either way i wont be buying it off you :p :D

My knife buying has slowed to a halt. But im now paying enough on my land to have it paid off in 2015 instead of the end of 2016... I was already paying quite a bit more to get it paid off in 2016, the loan goes until 2027... But the sooner i can move the better, so instead of just 169 a month im paying 700 a month now. If i keep this up, this time next year it will be paid off. And my kids will have room to play, go to better schools, ill get privacy.... Just better all around.

It was some really hard winters and disease that took them out. During those hard winters the deer would have a hard time finding food and would end up at a farmers grain pile or stacks of hay to eat. All that close contact spread disease even faster.

We have always used a lottery system for all our deer tags except for bow tags.

I was pretty pumped when she handed me the knife. I had been watching the exchange pretty closely for another one.
