Oh, The Weather Outside Is Snarkful...

Wow. You folks take your ice fishing pretty damn seriously up there.

Ha! We sure do. The local volunteer fire department puts it on and the proceeds all go to them. It's a pretty big tournament, but I know there's at least 1 in MN that is even bigger. http://dlvfdicefishingtourney.com/. That's a link to the tournament website if anyone wants to check it out. There's pictures and a video from a helicopter flyover of the tournament last year. Kinda cool stuff.

Getting bothered after hours would piss me off too.

I don't know about you, but nice long hikes with the phone off really help me get my head straight.

It sucks. Yeah, getting out does help me out big time. I'm wanting to move out of state, closer to my cabin, and the wife wants to as well, but her parents, both 91, moved here about 10 years ago to be closer to her because of their age. So, while I understand, I feel stuck like Chuck.

Best of luck with that Warrior.

Thanks man, appreciate it.

Feeling stuck is the worst. I feel for ya bud. Crappy jobs suck too, been there too many times.

Rock it tomorrow, Dubz, we're all in your corner!

Start putting in overtime requests every time they contact you at home! 1hour per answer given 😀. If you ain't management, you shouldn't have to deal with that crap.

Best of luck man, your situation sounds complicated.

Thanks guys.

I really should. They even texted me last week while on vacation. Pisses me off. I'm not management.

My job has me so stressed out, I can't even see straight anymore. I've never worked for such an effed up place as this. I worked at this mom and pop shop for 12 years, then 3 years ago, a major corporation took it over. Been bad since then. I thought it would be great, but I can't believe how unorganized it is. 401K, and insurance is good, but we were promised all kinds of benefits from day 1, that they reneged on. I have a distinct feeling I'm not going to be there much longer...bills be damned. I've freaking had it...

Hearin' you there, Dubz. That, and the "company" (a GIANT "global capital management group") that bought my former employer and is now my current employer, bought the company I finally left after nearly 20 years (of mostly being treated like crap) last year. If you understand that, good onya...don't know if I do. Bottom line: If I don't find another job soon, I will be wearing the same damn uniform it took me nearly 20 years of poor treatment to quit.

I know this feeling, intimately. And the stressful job component is just a bitter suck pill that multiplies that feeling a hundredfold (k, maybe not that much...). ...especially when you need that job to maintain your life (which is now less enjoyable becAuse of said job...). Good luck, Dubz. I'm pullin' for ya.

Seems we are not alone in this regard.

actually, if you're an hourly employee, they either have to pay you to be on call or they have to pay you per call.
I've had 2 different jobs where I got paid 2 hours per call, even if it only took 5 minutes to fix the problem over the phone. the down side to that was that since they had already paid for that 2 hour block, they could call back any time in that 2 hour period for no extra $$.
If they won't pay you, check your cell phone records and file a grievance for unpaid work -- they won't like the fines.

I'd rather make less at a less stressful job, than make more at a stressful job. It's simply not worth it. Both my mental, and physical health are worth way more than this stupid job. I've had a doctors excuse for nearly 3 months that I should be permanently altering my job, but they don't give a crap about it. Still doing the same ol shit. It's not like I'm trying to get out of work, or get free money. They just don't care. Actually, I've been here for 15 years, and what I make is a joke comparatively speaking. You get to relying on that crap though. If I were single, I'd move to my cabin. It's paid for, and I could easily get by on a part time job. Just couldn't buy as many knives and such, haha. I've been going over this situation with my wife, and she supports me fully in whatever decision I make. It's kind of scary to be honest, but a leap of faith is necessary sometimes. A guy that has a cabin down the hill from mine was telling me that losing a job can be a blessing in disguise. I do believe he is correct.

Didn't know that. Thanks for the heads up.

I hope you get it figured out. Work can for sure be the ole ball and chain. Marriage, parents, in-laws, and kids can all bring multiple angles to every decision.

Ain't nothing but a thing.

Thanks man.

And my BK9 I sold a few months back, I purchased back, and it arrived today. That's a plus.
Hopefully you made some money on that deal, haha.
