Oh, The Weather Outside Is Snarkful...

Seems we are not alone in this regard.

I feel fortunate with my job now. I've had my fare share of crappy jobs though. This is the first one I've had in a long time that I didn't want to quit on a weekly basis.

Thanks guys.

I really should. They even texted me last week while on vacation. Pisses me off. I'm not management.

Change them for that crap bro!!!

Sucky jobs suck. Period. Honestly, life's too short to be feeling that stressed out all the time. However, I know all too well the feeling of security at a bad job though - it can be super difficult to just up and quit, even if it's eating away at your insides. Being jobless scares me too. But like you said, sometimes you gotta take that leap of faith. Glad your wife has your back on whatever you decide. Hope you get it figured out Dubz.

AC - go slay some 'eyes! We fully expect pics of you on your new ride next week.

I had a whole, long, wordy thing to say about jobs and their intertwining with quality of life.....but this sums it up better. It's not always a leap of faith, tho - sometimes.....the Universe makes you an offer you can't refuse. Which is another way of saying: sometimes, your subliminal (rational) mind does an end-run underneath the modern, "social values" (*new math*) mind - and you, in essence, get yourself fired.

Dubz - you could always start showing up to work drunk and then smoke a rizzler at lunch.....bet that'd do the trick.

OK - still a long, wordy, thing. This is why I've been laying off BF - because I'm a compulsive (tho not that talented) wordsmith, and I take WAY too long reading and considering and editing.....I could go on, but.....chores - and knives - await. I will be carrying this today:

Matt Bailey bone/micarta hunter in forged (L-6?), hamon-ized, stupid sharp awesomeness. Have a great day, folx.

Stressful job isnt so terrible if its just normal kinda work stress, like deadlines and stuff, but if its toxic workplace kinda stress it can literally kill you. I have had jobs that damaged my health badly because they were so toxicly stressful.
I hope you get it figured out Dubs because there is very little worse than being stuck in a job like that.

Thanks guys.

Had my meeting this morning, and it seems to have gone pretty well. I let him know how it is, and he seemed pretty responsive to it. At least on the surface. He's supposed to approach HR, then get back with me. We'll see how it goes.

I ran across this at the Goodwill. Need another mess kit like I need another hole in my head, but, for $3, hard to pass up:

Stainless. Needs cleaned up, but appears unused:

I hear ya. Three bucks, what a deal.

Great find, Dubz. I buy plenty of stuff I probably don't need - but only if it's priced such that I'd be stupid to pass it up. I generally rationalize it thinking I can sell it for twice (or thrice) what I paid - and then end up using it and/or keeping it anyway.....I'm good at finding the deals, but not so good at the flipping part.

That's how I am too. Even if I sold it for twice as much, it would cost me twice that to ship it, haha.

See above, haha.

Hahaha yeah true that. I guess I need to do more thrift shopping. Best score I found was a Filson hat for $12. Couldn't pass on that! It's my new camping hat now. Especially good for out here with all the reason we get.

Big shout out to GSOM!!! He sent be a box of wood that I can use for handle material on my knives. No idea what most of it is but I'm damn excited to use it!! Thanks again GSOM!!!

GSOM is a good guy and a very generous man.

I still have some wood that he sent me for some future projects.... whenever I get around to starting those projects.

Why I love this place!! Everyone seems to be pretty awesome! We all seem to look out for one another. It's like some kinda weird internet family or something. Hahaha

You are more than welcome. Looking forward to seeing your creative use(s) of it.
Species, near as I can guess....
1st "row": cherry & purpleheart, with two pieces of philippine mahogany (now it's called "ipé", afaik) under the purpleheart.
2nd row: more cherry, sapele(?), another (?), quarter-sawn white oak, mayan walnut.
3rd row: quilted maple, red birch, padauk, mayan rosewood.

Thank you. And no pressure, friend....I still have steel that WW sent me....and it's still . - . - . - . ~~~~....waiting for me to do something with it.

You've been to BeckerWest, no? I really think that the reason this particular sub is so awesome is that it's not JUST on the internet.....a lot of us have met, or talked on the phone....and knowing, myself, how great the Gatherings are and the friends I've made at them....just translates into kinda, uh....knowing that we are pretty much ALL like that. And if someone hasn't been to a gathering, they can see from the threads and the pictures that there are real people on the IRL side of the screen.

NO ONE had anything to say about this? I put a lot of work into editing this photo from sub-par to.....mediocre.
