i'mma just drop this here
Hawt.
But I hate swinging blades toward my head, so I'd pick the small Hudson Bay instead.
Nessmuk dug it
i like dual edge double bits... perhaps me...
the designer of that has a hawt new sheath system coming too.
course, they also do non double bits in 5160. this alloy makes me happy.
also, you'll be pleased to note, i'm using those marking knives![]()
The 5160 IS appealing!
I'm aiming to learn a thing or two from Nessmuk (see knifemaking/modification thread), but the double-bits terrify me. I have one, renovated it, love it. But mostly from a distance.
Yay marking knives! Make pics in use!
Daizee, there is a whole lot of satisfaction in the "thunk" made when a double bit axe hits the target butt, full spin from about 23-25 feet away. The "thunk" of a DB is just so much meatier sounding that what you get out of a standard throwing hawk or a hatchet. I have a pair of 2-2s, a 3 and a 3-2 that I throw and have another dozen awaiting handles. The 2-2s sweet spot is right at 23 feet (with 28" or 30" handles). For 36" handles on the bigger (3-2, 4, 5) heads, I have to drop back to 25 feet.
