Old Friends Friday

I don't believe I ever noticed this thread before, but it kind of leapt out at me. How fortuitous is that?

Welcome aboard.
Oh yeah, I was on my phone earlier and didn't realize this thread was from 2015. I went down the first page liking stuff.
I do that too. It freaks me out to come across myself in what I thought was a new thread.

I always thought these stainless steel handles should have been more popular. Strong, incorruptible, and compact. Maybe if they'd been stamped with some attractive texturing.

Early flea market again, and it's a long time since I waxed a pocket knife blade instead of oiling it.

I do that too! :D That's Tool Man's favourite pattern :D

I consider both these knives Old Friends, and they were gifted to me by my oldest BF friend, Charlie waynorth waynorth :) The William Rodgers Lambsfoot is probably my finest example of the pattern, and the Black Jack is always a joy to carry :)

Unfortunately, I am now positive, so it's my turn!!
That's good to hear about Joanne Charlie, please give her my best :) Oh no! You too! I hope you get it mild buddy. Make sure you get plenty of rest and fluids

Croisdale were a Leeds cutler, originally based on Kirkgate, the city's oldest street. Later, they moved round the corner to Briggate, where they were a high class establishment. While they originally manufactured their own knives, they later had them made in Sheffield. Two of the three Croisdale knives I have, have ivory covers, including this Sleeveboard Penknife. The top photo shows Briggate, with the open Pen blade pointing to the Croisdale premises, on the bottom corner of the street, where it meets Boar Lane. The second photo shows Boar Lane, Croisdale would have been just round the corner on the right. There's a thread about the firm somewhere

It's been a while since I last carried this one, which my photos don't do justice to :)

My first punal, and most touristy. I bought it for 30 dollars at the place I'd seen it years before for $130. "Yeah, his widow is clearing out his stall."
I have warm feelings for the man who wouldn't budge on the price of his treasure, and for the woman who rolled her eyes all those years.

Best shot of eight again. Maybe eight is an unlucky number for me.

Nice one Jer! :D

I used to see one, in carbon, looked quite old, in an antiques shop in York. It was overpriced though, and the seller didn't even know what it was. It was there for YEARS! Wouldn't take an offer. I went over post-Covid, and the seller wasn't there anymore
