That reminds me of this Old Friend I picked up in Sheffield in 1979 Jer

Posting that knife also makes me think of another reason there are so many Sheffield knives without a maker's mark. I met the maker of that knife about 15 years later, and his explanation was "For tax reasons. I don't want to pay any!"

Thank you, Jack. It's a weird sort of knife, and I don't love the absence of a shield or cover pins, but the blade stamping is cool and you can't go wrong with a Boker Whittler.

I really like this Winchester Bullhead (Moose), and it's been too long since I last carried it

You can't tell on this background in this light, but my Camillus chocolate jack is the color of milk chocolate. It goes back to early days of the Bank Street flea market.

Judging by the genuine pocket wear, it was somebody's constant companion for a long time.

I went to town to run some errands and then meet some friends for a chicken dinner and then pool at Eagles. Being as it was only about 50 degrees F, I put jeans on and thought, "I think I'll carry my old friend the yellow copperhead." I haven't carried it in awhile, because I consider it a little big to carry in shorts. I don't believe I ever noticed this thread before, but it kind of leapt out at me. How fortuitous is that?

So here's my old friend (from 2021 )


Oh yeah, I was on my phone earlier and didn't realize this thread was from 2015. I went down the first page liking stuff. That's why some of y'all have likes on 7 year old posts. I must say I vastly prefer my laptop to my phone for internet cruising.
