My first GEC, these sat on shelves for more than a year. Many people didn't like the firm pull and gater snap. I wanted a jack knife that was built like the ones more than a hundred years ago and when it showed up I was hooked.

Thank you Jack! My wife gifted me that 78. At the time I didn't feel confident buying really good examples of vintage/antique traditionals and she saw me searching GEC 78's. Even though it isn't quite 10 years of age, it is definately an "Old Friend".

Nice knife James, and a great slip for it I used to carry one of the early ones, with the side-lock, a lot when travelling in Europe

I have been carrying the 66 Calf Roper (think I've got that right) that Duncan Campbellclanman gifted me today, but I've struggled with my internet connection I'm afraid. Just posting this from my phone. I'm going to watch some boxing tonight, and I'm afraid I will have to go knifeless!
