Old Friends Friday

Nice knife James, and a great slip for it 😎 I used to carry one of the early ones, with the side-lock, a lot when travelling in Europe 👍

I have been carrying the 66 Calf Roper (think I've got that right) that Duncan Campbellclanman Campbellclanman gifted me today, but I've struggled with my internet connection I'm afraid. Just posting this from my phone. I'm going to watch some boxing tonight, and I'm afraid I will have to go knifeless! 😱
Thanks Jack. To carry a Vic 111 sized blade concealed here, one must be hunting but we can carry them in a hip sheath because then they are considered exposed. Calf Ropers are great... nice gift! Internet troubles are almost as frustrating as being knifeless. ;) Rough day. Hope tonight's bout is a good one. Will you be attending it live?

I've had this a while. I stopped darkening the door of this place long before everybody else wised up and they went out of business.

Get well soon, Jack.

That's interesting James. I really like the 66 frame, and Duncan gave me the Calf Roper the last time we met up, in York, a few years back 🙂 My mate Wolfie won on points, I've posted videos of all 3 rounds in the Guardians thread James. I did attend, but I have Covid now! 🙄👍

Thanks a lot pal 🙂👍

Purchased new in 1973. Then during the next 40 years being the only fixed blade I owned it processed lots of small game, whittled many a tent stake, helped with tons of food prep and so on and... become a true blue old friend.
Happy 50th, Western Camp Knife!

Thanks a lot buddy, it's unpleasant, and inconvenient, but I think I'll be ok 🙂👍
Couple of old friends.
Hope you make a speedy and full recovery Jack.
My wife and I had COVID a couple months ago and cannot remember being that sick 😕

Super pair Dave 😎 Thank you for the kind words my friend 🙂 It was the same the first 2 times I had it, just a moderate flu. It has been worse this time, but I'm sure I'll be ok 👍

I'm lucky enough to have met up with Duncan Campbellclanman Campbellclanman twice, and I treasure the memories formed then :) With his trademark generosity, Duncan has gifted me some fabulous knives, which I also treasure of course. At our last meeting, in York, he gave me this beautiful Gunstock #44, which I haven't carried for a month or so :)

Jack you are fortunate to have a friend like Duncan both he and the Gunstock are special. How are you doing today?

Looking forward to future Maher & Grosh products while enjoying this old friend.

I certainly am James, I hope we can meet up again, before too long :) THat's a lovely photo of a fine-looking knife buddy :)
Mom's dad's workbench knife. That's where I always saw it, anyway.

Cool that you have those memories Jer  :)

My friend r8shell r8shell has been very kind to me over the years, not least in sending me knives from US manufacturers, which I might otherwise not see. I like the form of Rope Knives, and Rachel sent me this Klein. Carrying it today - I'd forgotten how small it is! :D

Likewise, Jack, you've expanded my collection with some Sheffield names I don't come across over here.
My old friend this Friday is the Camillus marked version, in black compsite and a slightly fancier bail I think.

I've not carried the Spring Street Barlow as much as it deserves recently

Beautiful Barlow Jack, nice pic too. Forum knives seem to have a tendency of turning out well.

This Mustang found it's way out of accumulation confinement a couple days ago. I kept it out for today's Old Friends Friday thread because with it's repurposed American Chestnut and stainless steel it is a strong favorite of mine. So much so that it sparked in me the round up of a small herd of Mustangs.
