Old Friends Friday

Thanks Ron. I have a 34OT that I bought the same year you got that one from your grandfather. Still have that one too.

Haven't been around much lately, but I thought I'd stop in share my old neglected friend with y'all. Recently I've been an all SAK all the time kind of guy, but I've been missing this little guy. The one that got this whole knife hobby started for me. Cheers

Nice one Todd

This is my Grandfather's Old Timer 8OT. It was in his pocket when he passed in '68. It was given to me at that time.

It is the knife that I have owned the longest. :D

Very special Ron

Nice Lemmy  I still can't load up Photobucket, but carrying my Sheepsfoot Charlow from the first run, in smooth ivory bone :)

I should carry this one more often. I have a weird thing with it. I kind of forget about it, and then see it in the knife drawer and think. "Oh, I love that knife, why don't I carry it more?" So it's a perfect Old Friends Friday carry.

The Kabar in the middle. I just took a newer picture but it came out awful.
I like this knife because it's more graspable than a peanut and more pocketable than a Barlow. Also still carrying a SAK and stockman.

Love that Case SBJ, Rachel!:thumbup: No one asked me, but IMHO you SHOULD carry that one more often. :D

Jack, I hope you get Photobucket resolved soon. Technology is the source of such fun :p and such frustration !!

scrteened porch, what is the barlow in your photo? Is it an Old Timer, or are my eyes betraying me again?

I carry my knives for a week at a time (at least) rather than a day at a time, so the ones below weren't selected specifically for Old Friends Friday; they've been in my pocket all week. But prior to this week, neither had been carried for quite awhile. Both were originally my father-in-law's. The Imperial jack is what got me back into pocket knives in January 2014 after about a 45-year hiatus. The Belknap barlow was part of my window repair bucket for 15 or 20 years, before I rescued it, cleaned it up, and gave it a more respectable place in my life.

Gev - a really wonderful photo and a gorgeous knife, but what really draws my eye is that shield! Wow, what a beauty!

Thanks GT, it seems to be up and running again today, I think they've been doing a bit of re-jigging

I like your two Old Friends, already admired them in the EDC thread, and it's nice to learn a bit more about them

That is a great pic of a great knife Gev

Photobucket seems just as sluggish as it was before yesterday's re-jig :grumpy: But here's my Sheepsfoot Charlow on the ancient city walls of York yesterday

Thanks, Jack. Not only do I sort of forget and then rediscover the knife, I then decide it's too perfect to carry, and put it back in the drawer. Only to be rediscovered again. I know, sometimes I don't make sense.

Beautiful!

Always appreciate your comments, my friend! The knife was gifted to me by Marko:D It is becoming a fast friend.

Much appreciated, my friend!!

Just think about all the knives that have graced the walls of York!!!

That is such a beautiful picture! I've never see a knife held in such a tender embrace.:o

Thank you very much, Mark!! It was a precarious embrace. The next shot has it falling to the ground as a big gust of wind hit, but I knew it would have a soft landing in the plowed earth.

This Sodbuster (sold as a 'Marinera') was made by Maserin in the Italian cutlery capitol of Maniago. I've had it 2 or 3 years now, and think it has good looks and great ergonomics. I'd certainly carry it more if it was carbon, rather than stainless, but I do enjoy carrying it, and thought I'd dig it out today for Old Friends Friday.

This was my very first Charlow, and gifted to me by the good Mr C himself. It's a very special knife for me, and while I carry it quite often, I'd certainly call it an old friend :)

Have a great Friday everyone, and an even better weekend
