Old Friends Friday

You have impeccable taste in knives and coffee mugs, my friend. 😁

Thank you sir! But I have to fess up that after seeing your coffee mug on a different post I searched for one on like it and was obviously successful. Louie was a Christmas gift for my beautiful bride and she loves it!

Not exactly old but a good friend that hasn't been carried in about a year. It has a easy-to-grip (with-gloves-on) handle so it does an excellent job as it accompanies me on WWW's (winter woods walks).

From the attic of the old house on Steuben Street. Dad said I had to check with Uncle Bill, because it had been made for him by somebody at work. Uncle Bill didn't want it, which is why it was in his parents' attic.

any possibility it was made for WWII Or another conflic?

I doubt it. Dad said it was made for Bill by somebody at work, and Bill wasn't able to get into the war. Assuming of course that Dad was right. It had a straight back when I grabbed it. I ground in the bit of a clip to make it look more like my idea of a knife. So an awkward length for a hunter and an awkward point for a sticker. Maybe an eastern woodlands survival knife? I should have asked Uncle Bill at the time.

screened porch screened porch What a wonderful old BSA knife Jer!
My choice for this Friday is similar and of similar age too, but it'll never show. :)
Great minds... ;)

Do-It-All Compact

can/bottle opener/wire stripper/screwdriver combo, scissors, "slices like the dickens" blade, corkscrew, mini-screwdriver, parcel hook/nail file, toothpick, tweezers, pen, pin and keyring!!! What more do ya need?

Thanks a cracking Old Friend Jer, I don't recall seeing it before
Thanks!
I almost never carry it now that I'm indulging my cutlery foibles. It was my invariable edc for a long time, and there's an ever-present danger that I'll say, "You know what? I was right", and go back to it.
But then you get into an alternative foible universe: this is almost as thin as a single blade, and for one more layer I could have x, or y, and...

I know what you mean Jer, I carried my Vic Mauser for the best part of a decade :)
That's a beauty Jeff, those knives look better with age I think :)

Slipping one of Charlie's Ancient Barlows in my pocket today :) I have three of his Ancients, and thought they were an inspired project, and great knives. This is the most recent of the three, but definitely an Old Friend, which deserves a day out :)
