Old Friends Friday

I'm not sure I'm even eligible to post in an "Old Friends" thread since I've only been paying attention to traditional knives for about 14 months, and the knives pictured below have been in my possession for at most 3 or 4 months. But the knives themselves are relatively old, and they all came from davek14, whom I consider an old friend (although I doubt if he's quite as old as I am :D) . But anyway, I happened to find all 4 of these in my pockets at about 6:30pm before I left work tonight and did a quick scan.

+1  That ebony 25 Barlow is really classy!

I've spent some time reading through this thread from the beginning. Great idea, Jack!

I'm off now to rummage through drawers and boxes in search of an old friend for this coming Friday!

Thanks Scott, I must say I'm getting quite excited about Friday myself! :D

I bought this old knife, made by Abram Brooksbank of Sheffield, from an old antique shop in an ugly West Yorkshire mill town, about 3 years ago. I think it was originally a Lambsfoot, which has been worn down through hard use, but carefully sharpened to retain its usefulness. I love its character, and the buttery feel and caramel colour of the old stag. I used to carry it often, but it's not been in my pocket for 18 months or so, when I carried it on a glorious summer day in the latter days of the infamous Wizard's Quest. It feels good to have it in my pocket today for Old Friends Friday :) Have a lovely day everyone and a great weekend

Thanks for reminding us what old friends are for Jack. This little guy was a mainstay in my pocket for over a year before I took the plunge and bought a GEC. I shaped it and finished it myself and was quite happy. ah the good old days!

Those GEC's do kinda spoil you don't they?! ;) You do a nice job of an Opinel though my friend

Cool Boker, Sarah. Is the bone original, or was it re-covered? I've only seen those in sawcut.

Happy Friday, everyone.

With all my excitement surrounding shiny new barlows, I let this old guy fall by the wayside. A perfect day to correct that.

No time for glamor shots today, but it deserves a thoughtful photo shoot soon.

Nice old friend you showed Jack, always enjoy seeing that one, it looks ready as ever to do some more cutting tasks

Sarah, your old friend Boker Barlow is a beauty! Lovely color and jigging on those covers

Today I'm carrying an old friend acquired back around 1985-86. At the time I was working in a warehouse, ironically my co-worker in our department was named Duane! He gave me this Camillus lock back to use on the job, which I did for a while, till switching to something more suited for single handed use.

Thanks for the kind words about my Boker, all.

And thanks again, Jack, for this thread. :)

It's O-riginal. Old Hunter has one as well, although I believe his has carbon blades (mine's stainless, an anomaly):

If I'm remembering correctly, pmew has a Boker Congress covered in Grand Canyon bone-- Boker bestowed the bone on beauties beyond barlows.

:D

Well I learn something new everyday. Nice to get it out of the way in the morning. :D

Here's an old friend I used to carry daily. I'm inspired to go find it for today:

Nice to see that soddie Jack! I almost put ole yeller in my pocket, but I ended up with these two, which hadn't been carried in awhile.

The blue was a gift fron the inlaws and my first Case. The 6375 needed some TLC. This morning; I touched up the blades, washed in some hot water, silver polished the bolsters and bone, washed again, dryed, oiled in mineral oil... then in my overalls it went.
